TO BETTER manage the demand for parking spaces at Housing Board (HDB) and Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) carparks, night parking charges will go up from $2 to $4 from Nov 1.

But the current half-hour night parking rate remains at 50 cents, said the HDB and URA in a joint statment on Monday.

'Currently, most NPS carparks are heavily used due to higher parking demand. This has resulted in residents with season parking ticket facing difficulties in getting a parking space when they return home at night,' they explained.

The parking charge revision will safeguard the interests of season ticket holders and better manage the parking demand at these car parks, added the HDB and URA.

The night parking scheme, which provides overnight parking facilities for non-resident motorists and visitors in HDB and URA car parks, was implemented in carparks where there were adequate parking spaces to meet season parking needs.
The new $4 night parking coupons will be on sale from Oct 15.

Motorists holding the $2 night parking coupons can continue to use them by displaying two $2 coupons.

does the lady need to display parking coupon? :D

i am anticipating a massive parking shortage when this carpark near my place is upgraded to add 2 more levels and a lift. :(

i do notice a big number of night parking coupons being displayed on vehicles in my regular cp. maybe this up in prices will help mitigate the situation a little...

They are not resolving the root of the problem man.

The whole weekend, CTE was like a major carpark. Cars all crawling like snail.

Helicopter group buy anyone?

they'll just switch to season parking and hdb earn more $$$

provided they are eligible. i'm certain there's a few of these cars who aren't eligible for season parking taking up the spaces, and season parking charges don't go up.

Our politicians have been following the template - first and last directive, raise the costs first. Let's measure the effectiveness later, when we could use the revenue to fund some research.

does limiting the COE, upping erp resolve anything as well? :(

having major events one after another in the same area (e.g. yog, ndp, f1) is probably not helping much either...

and nowadays, you can either have roads, or you can have drains. you choose. flood is your problem.

Re: Your answer to HDB night parking woes... higher parking fee lor

upping the night parking charges serve no purpose unless there are enforcement. My place is always jam-packed with cars. Lots of car packed illegally, cars without season or night parking coupons everywhere. They get away with it most of the time so why bother with all the hassle of getting season parking or coupons.

you can always whistle blow and get enforcement to come down. a carpark enforcement officer stays in the area so he usually does rounds at the carpark before going home....

i'm sure they won't mind being able to issue a few more notices to meet their quota...

If Hitmee's place, carpark does not concern me. I park my helicopter on his rooftop. He recently re-painted his "H".....

Ok, on la, so this weekend we take helicopter to his house ya.
No need to fight for parking space, I heard he still got 5 more helicopter lots - painted "I", "T", "M", "E" and "E" respectively.

Re: Your answer to HDB night parking woes... higher parking fee lor

this is crazy, what about some carparks in unpopular estates where there's always more lots than cars. Now everybody has to pay more. knn.

Re: Your answer to HDB night parking woes... higher parking fee lor

Told u all dun complain right. Everytime we complain something, price of that something (sometimes some other things) will go up.

done and tried. Most of the times, they cant be bother as well. I remembered once that 1 car was parking in front of another lot (blocking the car in the lot)..called enforcement, they came..book that car and left without booking the approx 10 cars that is parked illegally.

I gave up. These decision makers think that just increasing the price will solve the problem which is totally nonsense to me...

Re: Your answer to HDB night parking woes... higher parking fee lor

they are now slowly implementing electronic pricing system in hdb carparks. my estate previously has serious problem finding a parking lot everyday after 9pm, but since they installed it, there are fewer cars ard but sumtimes still cant find any parkign space esp on weekends.

Re: Your answer to HDB night parking woes... higher parking fee lor

why sun bathe picture ?
what's her parking fees ? she pay or onlooker pay ? hehehe

back to topic: government's brilliant idea is $ ... raise $ to solve any problem under the sun. anyone can do the job and no need million dollar salary.
