shock absorbers -- e90

Hi all,

I just did servicing to the car and include changing all the shock absorbers for front and back.

After changing the shock absorbers, the front wheels are super high! the gap can fit one FIST!!

I check with the workshop and they say is normal cause is new absorbers, after a while will automatically drop down.

Any other bro or sis here experience this before? After awhile really will drop down? now see the gap sibei sian...

Thanks!

Here are some pics.

Your gap looks really big. My stock ones are way lower than yours. Did your workshop order the correct shocks? the 6 cylinder and 4 cylinder ones are different. It seems ur shocks are for the 6 cylinder type with the heavier engines.......

If you have driven for 1 week, the suspension should have settled down by now. Usually the suspension should settle down within the day or the day after. No reason for it to remain at this height for more than a week. And please seek a 2nd opinion from another reputable workshop. You might have to pay abit for labour to check. Its way too high even for stock.

Re: shock absorbers -- e90

Unlikely not to settle even after one week of driving.

Should call the workshop and ask them if the suspension is correct (as what the rest of the bros recommended). To be honest, even if stock suspension, and before settling down, it shouldn't look so high. Sart sart guru wt_know say one.

Okie! I will seek 2nd opinion from another reputable workshop. Thanks!! I honestly think is too high and if after 1 more week can drop to normal, that's about 2.5 inch then after one month touch the tyres?? Haha!

I also think so and this has been in my mind like bugging me.. Haha..

Did you change the lower arms and tension arm bushes at the same time? I looks like the workshop did not tighten your suspension correctly. Those arms must be tightened with load.

good luck.

YES! I did the wheel arms change at same time for both left and right. and somemore sent for alignment after that..

So still can rectify? how much would rectification cost me??

Re: shock absorbers -- e90

Please let us know which workshop you went to......so that we can avoid it :)

Re: shock absorbers -- e90

easy fix. drop by tomorrow and you should be done in half hr. just need to jack up the car, release the bolts and re-tighten them.....of cos with load....just to confirm, you did not change springs right? just shocks and arms. The cost is just double digit....

cheers

Oh yah, i did not change springs, just arms and shock absorber. I did go back to the workshop and he explain it's normal cause the shock absorbers and shock mounts are new.

Btw, for your fix, do I need to send for alignment again?
