rims concavity

Hi,

Had recently bought a set of staggered rep rims and while the rear concave inwards deeply ( like m5 oem rim), the front does not concave as much, Is it possible that the shop gave a wrong set of front to me or maybe its just design flaws...any bro got similar experience?

Re: rims concavity

Your ride has staggered offsets and staggered width, hence the differences in front/rear concavities......

Re: rims concavity

sounds about right..check this one out...front is less concave aswell..

is correct, Kenn is right............

Double confirmed
cheers

Re: rims concavity

For staggered set-up, front confirm less ocncave than rear. If both have similar concavity for staggered set-up, then something must be very wrong with the rims. :wavey:

Re: rims concavity

i see thanks for all replies...however in my carpark, there is one E60 with real M5 rim, i pass by and find the front concave as much as rear and so the qns...must be my eye got parrellax error..haha...thanks.

Re: rims concavity

Terras, u mentioned urs is "like M5 OEM rim". Meaning it's not even replica M5 rims. In that case don't compare to the real M5 rims. Otherwise u will end up worrying too much.
Anyway my rims are staggered too and the back is more concave than the front (smaller offset). Hope u feel more assured now.

Re: rims concavity

just TO clarify all the doubts
Rim looks same outside not neccessary same spec
same spec rim not neccessary to have same shape outside
the best way is check the rim specification by checking the spec (usually embossed back or sometime front)
is no point now here making a all the comments without checking the spec physical.
i have seens a rim on toyota wish front and back rim same designed but the back wheels is deep disc in by nearly 30mm front only around 10mm.
So what i can said is technically same spec(width/offset) and this car is still able to rotate right?
why not you go back to ask the shop and clear your doubt:juggle:

In general, yes, but there are exceptional cases where the rear mounting pad is made much thicker than front and hence concavity looks less drastic then its offset could possibly look......

In other words, there could be two set of wheels with identical offsets and width and both have different concavity.......

Re: rims concavity

yes yes i do agree with bro kentona. Actually when choosing rim, i was deciding against a vmr 710 deisgn and the one i got. Both were rear rim so i dint took the vmr rep as it concave little even thou with same spec of off set 18. The difference is the inside of the rim was made thicker in one of the rim and hence not so concave.

its only upon installation that i rearlise the front does not concave as much as rear for my set so i think its a design "flaw" rather than a different width then concavity differ theory. coz if M5 rim with 8.5 front n 9.5 rear can have same concavity, why cant other rims?

Either manufactuer more cost effective to NOT do so or not able to do so
or
They just like front to concave lesser than rear
or
Actually M5 rim also front concave lesser than rear, just that i have paprllex error

When i free i go to my basment cp check out the m5 rim again..haha

Thanks all bro for your sharing...appreciate it.
