Parking sensor (PDC) Problem

Hi All,

While reversing the car (e60 N52 model) to park, the parking sensors or PDC (Parking Distance Control) function went beeping continously even after when the car was stopped with the engine and electronics turned off. The parking sensors just went on beeping and was not responding to its parking distance control function.

Turned on the car and restarted the engine but the beeping did not stop. There were also no indicators on the iDrive or dashboard monitor saying that the PDC was malfunctioning. The beeping sound came from the rear speaker (and to be specific, it was coming from the left speaker) located behind the rear seats. I somehow managed to stop the beeping sound when I tapped on the speaker panel that seemed to be emitting the beeping sound.

I later restarted the car again and checked the parking sensor function and iDrive which seemed to have returned to normal without the continously beeping sound from the parking sensor.

I wonder anyone here had the same problem or experienced such electronical glitch with your e60 or other models with iDrive? Would appreciate your feedback and experience.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Parking sensor (PDC) Problem

My dad's E60 also has the same problem..
Will keep beeping for no reason. But usually it goes off after awhile or when D-mode is engaged.

Always thought problem lies with the sensor or smth like that...
Maybe smth obstructing it....

Re: Parking sensor (PDC) Problem

Thanks for the feedback, Herman.

Will just monitor it over the next couple of days. Hopefully, the electronics do not get too crazy again. Will have to send it in to PML if it happens again.

Cheers.
