Hello Sherlene and all,

Thank for your welcome email.

This is the first time that i am posting.

Currently, i am driving a IS200 but palnning to change a used E90. I have test drive a use E90 last weekend. The condition of the car is super and the milage is quite low too for a 1.5 years old car. But while driving, i notice that a signal "DTC" light up on the dashboard.

I question is the SE but he is unable to answer. But, after consulting his so call expert over the phone, his reply was it is normal. What a crap.....

Appreciate greatly if somebody can enlighten me on the function of the "DTC".

Many thanks

Re: newbie

DTC stands for Dynamic Traction Control. Its one of the numerous safety functions of the car that helps prevent the car from going out of control due to driving incidents.

Now the thing is that if DTC flashes or its permanently on? If it flashes, it usually means that your car detected a loss of grip to the rear wheels, hence DTC came on to cut power to the wheels and correct your lines. It is a safety function. If the light is constantly on, it means that:

1. Your SE may have accidently turn OFF your DTC, meaning that there is no "safety net" if you step over the boundary of your car limits.

2. The DTC function is disabled due to electronic failure. The car may have to be sent back to PML to replace the DSC/DTC module.

Best regards,
Sam

Thank you very much for all your input.

Once i start the car, the DTC is "ON" and it remain "ON" even when i was driving.

It was sunny when i drove the car. So i guess there is some mulfuntion on the DTC.

Cheer.

Re: newbie

Yup, there is definitely some problems with it. DSC/DTC is constantly working in the background but there will NOT be any indication at all.

Only when u depress the DTC button once, then an "exclamation" icon will appear. Depressing the DTC button for 3-5secs will disable ALL safety functions and both "exclamation" icon and "Handbrake" icon will appear.

Hope its clear!
