Hi All,
I joined quite a few years back to sell off my roof racks and hydraulic bike lift off my previous BMW (to a very nice forummer) as I changed to a Lexus. Now the Lexus is 3+ years old and I am changing back to a BMW. So I went down to visit PML today and was ready to book the facelifted 325i Convertible (but the price has been jacked up substantially since I last went down for a check). Since all the new 5s were on display, decided to test drive the new 523i and it was smooth, comfortable and impressive. So after some thinking, I think I'll go for the 523i highline (need to wait 3 months as no stock). My dealer only offered me $3K off with the usual 3M floormats, window tinting and keep same number plate thrown in. So price will be $226,800. Can I ask if this price is reasonable? If not, how much can I push for, given the fact that the EURO is so weak now and they'd be making a tidy profit out of me. Alternatively, do you think I should possibly get a parallel import? Never done that before though...

Sorry if I've posted in the wrong section. I did try and check previous threads for the info using the search function but was not able to navigate.

Thanks in advance for your help. Looking to book the car tomorrow....:wavey:

Re: New Old Member needs help please :)

usually new models are quite tight on pricing. can see that he has thrown in as much of the freebies as he can, plus the fee for number transfer. i would say the deal is good.

Re: New Old Member needs help please :)

Welcome back MeekFreek

Pros of PI
1. should be at least $20k cheaper...if not why bother right?
2. if your gonna mod..they are not that fussy...as compared with PML

Cons
Very very low omv
If you get the wrong PI..delivery can take ages and PI can close down anytime...etc etc (the usual)

I guess if your gonna change the car after 3 or 4 years. and not gonna mod much...PML would be okie...if your keeping the car longer than 5 years..and gonna mod alot...i would say PI

Just got my car from PI...OMV is abt $34k+...super low...PML would be high 40s to low 50s i think...so if i'm gonna sell within 3 years...i guess savings wouldnt be much if not at all? but i guess i should be moding afew items so pros for me is hassle-free modding :)

Re: New Old Member needs help please :)

Thanks very much Alexxx. Really appreciate your feedback. I checked the price on SgCarMart from PI and it's around 198,000 so you are right. About 20K cheaper. I suppose PI OMV is lower as they tend to under declare to get the lower price.

Re: New Old Member needs help please :)

f10 is very nice car.
somemore highline has cool gadgets to go along.

I would like to think that buying cars for guys, it is always a very kan cheong issue.
(at least for me)
the moment we set our minds, nothing can turn it back. and we normally want it immediately.
so if the price is ok with you, the rest is secondary liao.
just grab the sales man by the collar, look into his eyes....and growl "GIMME NOW"

MAI TU LIAO!!!!

Re: New Old Member needs help please :)

If u intend to go to PI route, use PML spec as the benchmark. PI pricing are much lower price bcos of some important features are not available from that export ctry and thus after u add-in these missing feature, the saving is not substainable at all. In short, check and check and compare, after one big round is better to go back to AD for a peace of mind.
Make sure the PI stock are ex stock, if no stock then no talk. Do compare PI vs Pi as the features and pricing differs too. Nowadays, alots of small fry PI claims that they are wholesaler of PI................In short compare feature, pricing and who are warranty workshop, lastly ask for freedies if u intend to make the purchase. Good Luck!!

This is very good advice. What is AD?

I had just written a long post and it somehow disappeard :ehhh: Anyway, I booked the car at PML today. Going by the feedback here, I think I got a good deal cos managed to squeeze the price down a little more by pleading shamelessly.

As some of you rightly mentioned, PML has a credit card limit so was able to charge $15K of the deposit and the rest by cheque. The reason they gave me is because merchant fees would be too high.

Now just gotta wait 3 months. This will be July production with expected delivery in September.

Oh, tried the auto parking thingy and it was rather nervewracking sitting there with the steering wheel moving by itself but it worked perfectly. The thing is, you need quite a big spot with 1.5m tolerance. Sometimes that's not possible so we'd have to do it the old fashioned way and hope not to scratch the rims.

Re: New Old Member needs help please :)

Thanks everyone for all your help. I have another question....unrelated to the f10, if you don't all mind. We have another BMW, bought it last March (when prices were rock bottom) and changed the rims to 19" v spoke (anyway they are original from BMW so it's that matte aluminium look) BUT they get very dirty and black very, very fast (like after a few days). Why is that? I think it's brake dust but how much dust should be coming out of the brakes? So whilst the body looks nice and clean, the rims are pretty much black most of the time. I've never had this problem before. Anyone else have this issue?

the OEM brake pads produce alot of brake dust. its quite common.
