The new 540i xDrive M-Sport Saloon is now available at VINCAR!
The new BMW 540i xDrive represents two key milestones: it’s the first all-wheel-drive BMW sedan we have ever offered and it’s also the most powerful 5 Series model available until the Bahn-storming 600+ hp M5 is launched next year.
Like the 530i variants we sell, the cabin is a very pleasant place to sit, with lots of adjustment and everything built to a high standard from quality materials. There’s plenty of space to store all of your items, too, thanks to generous door bins and a large cubby under the centre armrest, plus a well-sized glovebox.
With 340 hp and 450 Nm on tap from the silky-smooth 3-litre in-line 6-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine, which is mated to an 8-speed transmission that sends torque to all four wheels via clever electronics, the540i xDrive is fast: 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds (as fast as the E39 M5).
The engine is superbly responsive right across its rev range. Just touch the accelerator pedal lightly to bring more speed while putting your foot to the floor brings an explosion in terms of both sound and performance.
Our car comes with the M Sport package and while the additions are mainly cosmetic (front comfort seats, front LED foglights, Anthracite headlining, M aerodynamic bodystyling and M steering wheel), the M Sport braking system and suspension are performance-oriented features which give the 540ixDrive M Sport more “go” and not only “show”. The former makes for shorter braking distances while the latter lowers ride height by 10mm for more improved handling around corners.
