Neighbors from Hell - What's your story and solution?

I am surrounded by rentals,….

Last 10yrs staying here have been trying,…

Current one above my unit is the worst!

1. Dragging furniture starts 5+am!
2. Stampede starts 4+pm when son comes home and use it as playground. Often hear marble like sound i.e. the
one that drives you crazy!
3. Big size angmoh hubby comes home 9-10+pm and Jumanji! Sound of pounding floor above will last till 11+pm
or later.

Spoke to them, spoke to condo management (a few times), etc and still no improvement!

What is your story and how did you resolved it?.

Before them was a young PRC couple. Wife like to wear shoes in the house and they sleep like 1+am. Many times woke me up with knocking on wood sound! Tried to settle calmly. Wife came down and asked me what kind of shoes we wear at home. You can hear them from front door to bedroom clok clok clok!

Serious answer:
Wear earplug to sleep.

Otherwise, shift to terrace house lor provided u have only 1 car.

Re: Neighbors from Hell - What's your story and solution?

Hmm I don't have neighbours from hell. Only the ghost upstairs that drops marbles every now and then :sleepy:

I thought condo is build with red earth brick. HDB is build with cement brick (which means more hollow).

Anyway, i don't have this problem staying in HDB.

The only ah gua in this forum is Nick lah. It's a diversion tactic created by him so that he can quietly bio all of you.

This is a common problem n will never be resolved. A lot of patience is required and of course civic mindedness of the upstairs neighbors. Who knows? Maybe your downstairs neighbors think u r an elephant but kept quiet...

Litigation is useless. Court cannot order anything. Cannot order them must come back by 10pm, must sleep by 11pm etc...Go community mediation also useless. How to gauge what is considered silent or noisy? You cough he say u irritating him n the peace. His baby cries you say his house got ghost....

yes, one way is move to landed.

then u kenna the Everitt road type saga, or your neighbor says you park in his "reserved" lot outside his house or you wash car in your driveway n the water flows to his house outside n he says you trying to flood his house etc etc...then police or swat team come. Then back to court n community mediation.

soooooo.....like what the others say...get earplugs or buy a good set of noise canceling headphones. Or lim liquor until u konk out n even an earthquake can't wake u up....

Re: Neighbors from Hell - What's your story and solution?

how about the neighbour who cuss at your entire generations in FB!

Re: Neighbors from Hell - What's your story and solution?

I live in a landed property but still hear marbles dropping on the top floor and furniture being dragged around in wee hours in the morning. My grand parents upstairs were definitely sleeping. This usually happens during the hotter months like this month. Could be contraction of materials after expanding so much during the hot day.

Over 10yrs with many tenants coming n going above, I can very much tell whether the sound is genuine or supernatural.
Also, one case where after 3 mths of platform shoes in the bedroom, I went up and tell them about it and they were moving out then. Next few mths, completely silent!

Yeah, I agree. After 10yrs putting up with all sorts of noise, I think it is futile. However, I am asking if anybody have any success
in solving these issues. I can take the noise and have been putting up with it and only took action when it is really bad. Is it normal for somebody to skip rope at 10:30pm?. It goes chiak chiak chiak (rope hitting the floor) pomp (when feet lands)!

I have earplugs next to my bed and use it when necessary but the effect when sleeping with them can be daunting.
It is like you are in oblivion! I don't know how to describe that. Thanks for your legal advice. At least I know that avenue is
pointless. The security actually suggested we call police if it is really bad and at wee hrs! However, I don't wish to have my rides all scratched up! Cannot drink due to allergy but if I take that up daily then pretty soon, wife will admit me to AA!
