Mute Button on Steering Wheel

I drive an F10 but can't find the mute button on the steering wheel. How do you do it?

There is no mute button.

I either switch off the stereo or lower the volume to zero on the steering.

There is only 1 mute button...the big round button volume knob on the head unit. As evident from the mute symbol in the screen, the radio/cd/multi doesn't really switch off, it is just muted when you press the knob.

actually it does. Once u press the Mute button, the cd stops playing..

if you paired your phone with the idrive, when you answer phone handfree, will it level down / mute the audio? i don't know ....

Mute audio when taking a call. IIRC, the reverse sensor sound is not muted when taking call...but the PDC/camera screen will change to phone screen which is very irritating.

Simple, just press the mode button on your steering wheel...will go to AUX and you get instant silent.

Press again and it goes back to the radio.

Interesting. I would think a mute button in the steering would be standard item as when you need to answer calls with your earpiece instead of the car system. But the idea of presiding mode button sounds workable. Will try later.

But why have cruise control function on the steering? How often do you guys use the cruise control? It should just be in the stalk on the column.

For my case (E60), there's a selection in the iDrive which we could program a shortcut on the steering wheel for a few options like mute/on the radio/iPod, on/off air circulation vents, straight to phone list & etc.... Not sure if this helps or prob most of the old birds already knew....lol
