Starting from April 2007, full-day bus lanes will be in operation at Eu Tong Sen Street, Hill Street, Victoria Street, Bras Basah Road, and Somerset Road.
These lanes will effectively become the exclusive domain of buses from 7.30am – 8pm on weekdays and Saturdays.
This was announced on Monday by Transport minister Raymond Lim at the opening of the new Fort Canning Tunnel.

Currently, full-day bus lanes are only found along Orchard Road, which was a pilot trial started in October 2005. Coupled with the ERP scheme, LTA found that average bus speeds increased by up to 23 per cent.

Along with facilitating the introduction of premium bus services to 'users who are willing to pay a higher fare to have a superior level of service', LTA hopes that the full-day bus lane scheme will improve the overall experience for commuters.
Evening operating hours for regular bus lanes will also be shifted back to 5pm – 8pm, from the current hours of 4.30pm – 7pm. Morning operating times will remain at the same, i.e. 7.30 – 9.30am on weekdays & Saturdays,

Re: Full day bus lanes in CBD

So confusing and how to remember which road's bus lane is out of bounds on which day and time? :screwedu: Can someone write to those clowns in LTA to set up some indicative signboards thats says "Bus Lane in operation" or something like that :smack:

Re: Full day bus lanes in CBD

More jams expected.

Then more ERPs. Justified by the heavy traffic.

More revenue.

Still heavy jams. Just look at CTE.

Re: Full day bus lanes in CBD

LTA revenue will go up too :)

Re: Full day bus lanes in CBD

And problems that they have identified and proposed to solve are still not solved yet. What's next? Have ERP every 1 km?

Re: Full day bus lanes in CBD

Bus lane is a bad idea, always peak hours kenna jam like hell and yet one lane is kept emtpy...thats 33% lost in capacity based on a 3 lane road...

Re: Full day bus lanes in CBD

and buses will come into car lanes.....sometimes cutting right across to outer most lane cos they have to turn out somewhere...or just cos e bus in front is 'slow', they overtake and $(#&@)Y^%)*@^#...brrr...

Re: Full day bus lanes in CBD

Check out the mess outside Orchard Meridien and then outside Plaza Singapura. Buses trying to cut out, cars need to turn left......
