E90 320i 100K Km Service

Dear Forummers,

The mileage of my 320 is coming to 100K km. Anyone who has done a 100k km service at PML recently? Any idea what are the things that needs to be changed?

Most importantly how much did it cost U at PML?

Im considering going outside workshop to do also. But I would like to compare the price differences before deciding.

Thanks in advance.

Re: E90 320i 100K Km Service

If the 100K you are saying is within the warranty period, let PML do the servicing. If passed the warranty period, then I think you are better off with outside workshops.

From my experience, common items to check/ replace are:
1. Engine oil leakage at front end (towards you). Likely due to worn engine seals or oil sump blockage problems. Cost is unknown.
2. Oil droplets/ stains at the back of the engine block (you can spot them using a torch). Likely due to oil pump that is fitted at the rear of the engine. Costs $300+ for OEM ones.
3. Radiatior leak due to wear and tear, usually 3 years is about time to replace. Costs around $400 for radiator and hoses. Yes, hoses need to be replaced as they hardened over time.
4. Ignition coil. Engine rpm fluctuates like crazy even at idle. Cannot remember the cost but should be around $300+.
5. Air filter (stock) and oil filter. These 2 are quite cheap to replace.
6. Brake pads and rotors. Substantial wear can be spotted for cars approaching 100K. I think $200+ for each set of rotors and pads.
7. Steering column angle sensor. If you are unfortunate enough to have this problem, better check this out. Signs are warning lights everytime you turn your steering wheel. Costs around $700+.
8. Valvetronic motor that causes the car to lose all power. Better to check. Costs around $800+.

That's about all I can think of.

Thanks for the points you have pointed out Pengful. Will take note. Right now car is in workshop for the leaking aircon issue, the whole centre console have to been taken out....now carless....dunno today can finish repair anot. Will have to tackle the points you have mentioned one by one.

Hoses have been replaced, water pump have been changed twice.

As for the oil seals, they were changed like 2 yrs ago, guess now its time to check it out.
If the workshop have enough time, they will change my engine oil, air filter and spark plugs today as well.

Next to do, fuel filter, and the rest you have mentioned. Changing a set of new tyres tomorrow.....shiong man....

$$$ is the biggest obstacle, if the loss wasnt so much and the new car price not so high, I would have changed....I got take good care lei, except i rarely wash my car. Other than that I do everything required to keep it in good running condition. haa haa. My workshop scratch head, har? He first time encounter aircon air leak at the centre console, nv hear or see before and ask me, eh ur car nv bring for flower bath ar?

How come always those funny things spoil one :p

If you have done any study on depreciations lately, you will see that majority of the cars; BMW, Audi, MB, Lexus, etc, all depreciates about $15-18K per annum. When I bought my car, the depreciation figure was $9K. Where to find now? I am also itching to change but my head tells me no. Keep the car running well.. afterall, it is still a bimmer!

Yup U r right, thats why I decided to do maintenance hence the recent influx of posts on me asking questions on maintenance, issues, etc.

BTW collected bk my car, the air con leak resolved, the joint of the air con pipe came off and the workshop attached it back. Done oil change and my spark plugs. Feels smoother haa haa.

Going to change tyres tomorrow, excited at the smoothness of new tyres.

Just to check, did u change ur rear differential oil? Im thinking of changing mine.

Re: E90 320i 100K Km Service

Ok put on new tyres and did an alignment today.

BTW I think my radiator fan controller has gone kaput, recently noticed the fan running at full speed very freuqently and my steering will vibrate also.

Gotta get my radiator fan controller checked and changed if necessary.

Just to check, for air con full service, I intend to go to Tomika. Anyone have any ideas what are the things that need to be serviced? I only know a few items:-

1) Air Con Oil Flush (Lubricant or something like that)
2) Air Con Gas check and topup.
3) Dryer needs to be replaced.
4) Air Con Recirculation Filter element replacement.

What else needs to be looked at?

Hi blacklights, for mine, I brought it to one of the site sponsor work shops for the services and repairs since my warranty is already over.
