BMW M Adaptive Suspensions

Hi Guys,

Is there a way to tell if your ride is fitted with M Adaptive suspensions? As in, if i were to look into the wheel arches, how do I identify M adaptive suspensions as suppose to stock suspensions? Colour, size, markings??? any characteristics?

Welcome all opinions.

Thanks. :D

the buttons r there as standard, without M adaptive suspensions only steering and throttle response will be adusted when u switch from normal to sports mode. does not mean the suspensions r installed. thanks anyway

Re: BMW M Adaptive Suspensions

Hi Slater,

actually you should be able to know what are the options for your car according to the spec when making the purchase, it should be on the brochure itself...........what ride you refereing to? by the way only s35i will come with the M-adaptive suspension but of course you may opt for it if it is the s23i......

go for coilover, is better.....

cheers

yah la. just wanna be sure mah. apart from the car being lower by 1cm, are there no characteristics to determine if its ///M adaptive suspensions?

the ///M suspensions are quite impressive.....check this out.....

The agility of the BMW Roadster may be further enhanced by ordering the optional Sport Package featuring Adaptive M Suspension with Electronic Damping Control. A central control unit varies the “compression” and “rebound” stages on the four twin-sleeve gas pressure dampers to provide optimum response at all times. The response time is so fast that a signal coming from a front wheel crossing a hole in the road reaches and re-adjusts the rear dampers even before the rear wheels reach the same uneven road surface.

Re: BMW M Adaptive Suspensions

presence of EDC button...
LED off = normal; one LED on = sport; two LED on = super stiff...

as far as i know for now only the roadster has the option to sport the M adaptive suspension (EDC) option coz it was official there won't be a Z4 M... the buttons at the center console sets the level of sportiness.. as in the M's

for the e92 coupe (335 and others) the adaptive suspension has not shown up as options as yet available to non M's...

Hi

I got my Z4 ride from PML. supposed to come with the adaptive suspension. Dont think there are any buttons solely for adjusting the firmness of the suspension. only the sports, sports+ and normal mode.

read the manual...apparently switching betweeb these modes adjust the firmness of the suspension as well. still i feel the suspension is a little too soft at high speeds...i guess comfort is still a priority from the manufacturer pt of view.

Millimetre precision.
The adaptive M suspension
for the BMW Z4 Roadster.
Effortlessly trace the curves of the road as you negotiate confidently in and out of bends. With the optional adaptive M suspension, the BMW Z4 Roadster pushes the boundaries of driving dynamics without ever compromising comfort. A ten millimetre lower suspension lowers the centre of gravity for faster cornering. Sensors measure relevant acceleration and adjust the damping within hundredths of a second while Driving Dynamic Control allows you to choose between the modes Normal, Sport and Sport+.

The Drive Dynamic Control is standard, which include NORMAL, SPORT, SPORT+ modes. Optional Adaptive M Sport Suspension adds electronic damping control.

Standard fitment of Dynamic Drive Control in the new BMW Z4 enables the driver to vary the set-up of the drivetrain and suspension at the touch of a button in three modes.

Drivers can switch between NORMAL, SPORT and SPORT+, depending on whether they prefer a smoother or a sportier ride.

Switching modes alters the throttle response, the level of power steering assist, the response thresholds of Dynamic Stability Control, the shift points for the optional automatic transmission, and the setting of the optional adaptive M suspensions with its electronically adjustable dampers

Dont think you can remove or fit it in? It seems to be integrated from factory

thks for clarifying... looks like the Z4 setting butttons are combined on throttle response; gear shift ; steering and suspension.. vs on the M are individually set.. On the M at the extreme settings on the suspension ...it is pretty bone jarring..and uncomfortable on street driving...

I can understand about the bone jarring part with hard suspension. But on days when you feel like being aggressive, soft suspension doesnt really inspire much confidence. Wish I had a M like you! =)
