BMW 1-er From PML

Anybody knows if PML plans to bring in the 1-Series? Entry-level 116 or 120?

What is stalling, or preventing them from doing so?
Is it about remaining cost-competitive, vs the likes of VW and Audi?

Looking at the competition:

VW Golf 1.6 FSI ($86K)
115 BHP / 155 Nm, 6-sp Tiptronic

VW Golf 2.0 FSI ($98K)
150 BHP / 200 Nm, 6-sp Tiptronic

Audi A3 1.6 Fastback ($106K)
102 BHP / 148 Nm, 6-sp Tiptronic

I am sure the BMW 116 and 120 will have engine specs that are on par with, if not better than, their VAG counterparts. Only question is whether they will be price-competitive if they are brought into SG.

I'd be interested to know PML's position on this, and if anyone who has done some research on this topic before? Thanks.

You mean its handling is nothing to shout about?
Which model did you drive?

I agree that if the engine and how it handles is only mediocre, one would be better off buying a VW Golf.

Still, I'm inquisitive to know why PML does not want to compete in the hot hatch-genre of cars. I guess a 130 will be very niche in SG :(

Re: BMW 1-er From PML

I rented an 116i in Erlangen. My German colleagues were all laughing at me why I rented a supermarket shopping car! :furious:

The interior feels cheapo and was rattling badly, rear seats are hopelessly cramp and I also dun get the usual refinements I find in the other BMW series.

I think u can talk to pi if u really want a 130i here, but be prepared to pay a premium. Then again what's the point?
