Aftermarket steering wheel audio control?

Anyone know if there are any aftermarket ways to get audio control on a steering wheel? For cars that don't come with such controls ready-made, eg prehistoric BMWs...

Blaupunkt has a module which you can install in your headunit... and they will wire tie a controller on your steering wheel, so that you can control the audio set form your steering wheel.

I think it cost about $150 only

Are you referring to this thing? Blaupunkt RC10 remote control

Quite nifty but doesn't it only work with Blaupunkt HUs ...

oh... yes.. it only works with blaupunkt sets.... but i guess if steering wheel control is important, you will have to consider changing the stock HU out... i guess... that is not a massive job... according to someone who did it.

henry, ur car itself has the steering control buttons?

so it means to say that it requires changing of the stock HU to blaupunkt and also the Steering is it?

Care to share where it can be done? So that I can call up and ask
