335 coupe/cab getting Double Clutch

Re: 335 coupe/cab getting Double Clutch

WWWAAAAAHHHHHHH!

Incredible balls to put the DSG below M-range.

Re: 335 coupe/cab getting Double Clutch

I strongly suspect this is also the rumoured cannot-chip-cannot-increase-boost model.......

From what i heard, it can handle 600nm. BUt dont take my word for it.

Re: 335 coupe/cab getting Double Clutch

"The sports automatic transmission with double clutch is designed for engine speeds
of up to 9,000 rpm and torque levels of up to 600 Nm and is therefore ideally
suited to the character of the high-revving in-line 6-cylinder engines
of BMW."

Very moddable....

Re: 335 coupe/cab getting Double Clutch

hard to say leh... Last time I couldn't S/C my 325 SMG coz if I did the tranny would give. Also the shifting would have become unreliable... This info is from someone who s/c his car in the US.
Trouble shooting SMG problems are also damn hard... PML most of the time couldn't 'detect' any problems and I actually had a GB change.

Re: 335 coupe/cab getting Double Clutch

600 NM tolerance, but if the ECU is protected, no chipping, no Juice Box, no Procede, how are you gonna mod?

SMG1 is weak. The regular auto is far more reliable.

Mod a pre-DCT 335 with the new GB?

Re: 335 coupe/cab getting Double Clutch

Is that possible? Hahaha, I'm sure there will be many people in Sg and around the world trying that... I'll be following closely.

Not sure how significant the gear shift changes is on the road, given the large amounts of torque.... even the road testers say that 0.4s or less 0-100kmh difference is not perceivable.
I rarely downshift in my car, in fact if I leave it in 5th (S-mode) I can overtake on the highway easily w/o downshift... and that's with stock engine. Although looking at some good stuff... hee hee

IMHO DSG is very good for high revving frequent shifting cars... M3 is a great partner.
The Brabus Bullit (V12 TT) only have 5 gears, why need so many gears if torque not an issue? But need reliable gear to deal with all the abuse... and the current ZF auto is as reliable as it gets.

Maybe I'm sour grapes but anyone has an opinon to share?

HI, that's why I am in such a dilema. I cant wait for the DSG in a relatively high performance car, and the 2 models are both appealing. Based on the news, it seems that 335 will be ahead of the S5 on the gear, and also lighter on running cost. But S5 is definitely a better looking ride, also refreshing for me, too. So far, not much firmed news on S-tronic on S5. Eitherway, dont think can get hold on one before Dec or early next year. Will wait out a little more and see if Audi make any announcement on the S-tronic on S5.

Hi there my friend. Didnt realize it was that long ago, haha. been MIA for a long time. Looks like you guys are way beyond BMW already. Was just saying amongst the earlier batch of members, i am probably the only one left driving a BMW. haha.

It appears that I will most likely to be stucked to BMW for another "term". LC trying to get me to test drive maserati. haha.
