I heard a reputable workshop here say castrol edge ll-01 5w-40, although the recommended oil by bmw, causes engine sludge! anyone can confirm this? what is the best oil for bmw then? :thinking:

last month i started to experience rough idle (aka vibration at idle) problem with my E90 symptom: the car will start to vibrate when stop at traffic light, usually 3~5min after cold start, at low frequency (ie not the high frequency vibrations that you would experience due to weaken engine...

since last week, i encountered twice intermittent starting problem with my e90. no problem starting in the mornings, but twice (once last fri and once today), i encountered no crank after i have driven the car and parked it for ~45min to 1 hour. Battery is confirmed ok, but no cranking...

Re: fuel consumption for 335 my 320i e90 on 18" rims 50% city 50% highway (meaning if the journey is 20min, i spend 10min city and 10min expressway) is about 9.2 to 9.4km per litre; ie 55litres runs 505 to 515km i am using castrol edge titanium 5w-40, pump shell98 and my driving habits...

Re: Do you warm up your engine in the morning? i drive off within 10seconds starting the engine... but i dont ramp the rpm beyond 2000 within the first 5minutes i only ramp beyond 2000rpm after 5minutes i guess the first 5minute is considered 'warming up'
