This is most unfortunate for you at the moment. The gearbox is controlled by the mechatronics unit so not very sure the mechanic changed the right component for you. My E60 mecha unit cost about under S$4k to replace the other time. I only changed this and not the gearbox and it worked fine...

most likely Internal engine oil leaking into the combustion area. most noticeable on mornings after a long period of inactivity. could be the gaskets - expensive parts and lot of work could be valve seals - cheap parts but a lot of work ?? can contact any of the site sponsors for assistance...
