[Video] BMW M5 CS wins against 650 hp Nissan GT-R

When it comes to high-performance cars, it’s already given that the BMW M5 CS belongs to the top list. Everyone knows it’s the German brand’s most potent and fastest vehicle ever. But this large sedan tips the scales at 1,825 kilos (or 4,023 pounds) and seems impossible to beat a supercar, right? We’re talking about the Nissan GT-R, tweaked as if its supercar nature isn’t enough.

Well, we’re about to find out in this drag race, in case you’re wondering, too. The conclusion of this drag battle between the super sedan and the R35 may surprise some folks. However, it’s worth noting the big generation gap between the two. GT-R has been around for more than a decade, while the M5 CS debuted at the beginning of the year. Definitely an exciting drag duel.

It’s safe to say that the GT-R has a numerical advantage over the M5 CS since it has greater horsepower and torque. The stage 5 kit from Swedish tuner JRM Racing allows it to generate 650 hp and 850 Nm of torque. That’s an extra 23 horsepower and 100 Nm of power and torque above the competition. Additionally, the BMW is a tad bit heavier.

So, it seems like a big question about how the GT-R lost over the sedan when it has a superior starting position. The M5 CS won the first match by quickly recovering from its early deficit and steadily increasing its advantage. Tables have turned in the roll race—the Japanese supercar raced off like a rocket. Meanwhile, the BMW only regained much of the lost ground once the vehicles reached greater speeds.

M5 CS is the German brand’s luxurious and high-tech large sedan. The fact that it can compete against a dedicated performance machine, like the Nissan GT-R, is already otherworldly.
