[Video] BMW M5 CS Runs At Over 300 KM/H Top Speed

Contrary to popular belief, the quintessential “super sedan” of the early electric period relies solely on V8 power, without resorting to hybrid technology. Munich firm announced from the beginning that manufacturing like the M5 CS would be limited to a single model year, so you won’t see these cars on the road very often.

The most vicious M5 ever built shows off its speed and agility on an unrestricted stretch of the Autobahn. The M5 CS’s twin-turbo 4.4-liter engine produced a staggering 626 hp, making it the most powerful production BMW ever after its release. As the V8 shows off its might on the world-famous route, we get to enjoy the seductive soundscape it creates. After crossing the 300-kilometer mark, the digital speedometer reaches 304 kilometres per hour toward the end of the clip. Those are speeds of 186 and 189 miles per hour.

Since the next-gen M5 has been verified to have a plug-in hybrid arrangement, the M5 CS is the last of the V8-only breed. The eight-cylinder engine will remain, which is good news, and the M division will fit its new S68 mild-hybrid powertrain with an electric motor, just like in the 2023 XM. Standard power for the high-performance SUV is 650 hp, with a 750 hp Label Red trim set to debut in 2019. Future M5 access to the complete output is uncertain at this time.

With M5 CS as BMW’s last model with an ICE, its value will rise as the manufacturer launches more hybrids and electric cars. The M3 CS and M4 CS will launch in 2023. BMW may develop another M2 CS or an M2 CSL in the future.
