600HP BMW M4 F82 Boasts Blow Off Noise on Autobahn

German aftermarket specialist Infinitas debuted its Hybrid Charger a few months back. This system is specifically developed for the M3 and M4 models, as well as the M2 Competition. All three units carry the S55 engine under the bonnet. For the first time, we get to see the upgrade in the M4 F82 on a high-speed Autobahn run.

A bit of an overview about the Hybrid Charger, it’s a specialised compressor that’s linked to the turbochargers upstream. The OEM turbos aren’t touched because the tuner’s hardware pre-compresses the air before it enters them. The upgraded compressor reduces turbo lag by feeding the engine more air than the standard configuration.

There are noticeable improvements in throttle and engine responsiveness, and the sound quality is noticeably better across the rpm range. The featured M4 F82 puts out 600 horsepower and 800 Newton-meters (590 pound-feet) of torque through the manual transmission. It reflects a better engine performance than the stock inline-six, 3.0-litre.

Furthermore, Infinitas is already developing more powerful kits for the Bavarian high-performance coupe. This includes the possibility of getting an outstanding 1,000 hp and 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft) from the S55. And to be honest, an M4 with that much power and torque flowing to the rear wheels is both exciting and terrifying.

Due to the Hybrid Charger’s ability to produce boost pressure more quickly, this M4 offers outstanding acceleration in any gear. As a bonus, it’s a manual with more boost pressure all the time than the conventional S55 setup. It’s obvious how this tweaked BMW M4 F82 can sprint beyond 300 km/h (186 mph) effortlessly. And according to Infinitas, S55-powered cars can achieve more than 205 mph (330 km/h) with the SK3RR top-spec package.
