Z4 s35i vs A5 2.0T Cab, which will you pick?

Both preowned, about same age, A5 has MTMed stage 1 to 276bhp.

This being a BMW forum, I suspect the opinions will be skewed towards the Z4. The Audi, however, has 4 seats which will come in handy as I have two kids.

This is a 2nd car for the family. Would appreciate anyone who has compared both the above cars before to share their views as well. Thanks!

if its family 2nd car.... then i go for Z4s3.5i... hard-top convertible, Better handling, better performance but if u want the whole family to go for a "topless" drive then go for Audi... shd get the S5 cab for comparison not the A5... BMW is still the Sheer Driving Pleasure! haha

Well since you mentioned kids I suppose the A5. Unless you wanna make double trips each time to be fair to both (since you really can't ferry them both at the same time with the Z4).

Besides, isn't it rather satisfying to be able to enjoy a convertible with your family?

U read my mind! But the lure of the inline 6 is strong! Unless we are looking at the s5, the a5 is still a 4 pot.

Very hard to compare a roadster and a cabrio...... you should be comparing the Z4 against the TT Roadster, or the A5 against the 32X cabrio.....

Since it is the second car, the need for the rear seats should be seriously considered - do you need 2+2 on this "second" car?

If yes, go for the cabrio.

Good point, Z4 against the TT, I'll take the Z4 anytime. A5 against any cabrio, I'll take the A5 in the blink of an eye.

the heart says the twin turbo inline 6, the mind wants the rear two seats. the wallet says either is fine since abt same price. how?

Pls dunno buy any S35Z4 or 135 or 335. HPFP problems. Dont follow my mistake...serious one.

Anyway, buy AUDI...Audi got 4 alphabets, BMW only got 3...4>3....right?

Go for Z4 s35i...i have both cars (2 years plus and the other is almost one year old) using N54 engine...no HPFP ....if worry, then go for those models which still have at least 6 months PML warranty...

btw, the HPFP problem seems to have stabilised as the recent version of fuel pump still has a large quantity at warehouse --> less drivers reporting HPFP which means very few fuel pump being drawn from warehouse to replace faulty ones...

haha .. the HPFP problems will plague BMW 'turbo' for sometime
not sure whether the new 2L 4-pot turbo will also comes with HPFP

135i also have a convertible version now. Can still sit in 2 kids or 2 average-height adults (not 170cm above) comfortably.

how about a 335i cab? is a BMW plus is a four seaters unless you prefer a soft-top.

since you have 2 kids, go for 4 seaters so can go for a Famiy Topless Drive...

Both are great car.....go do a test drive and see what suit your lifetsyle..

I like the A5 better for the looks.

Having said that, make sure you try the backseats of a cabriolet first. I did ... not terribly pleasant. Children seating lower down may not be a problem; adults may find the draft a bit too much.

Of course if you are a looking at a 2 seater, I am biased towards a Boxster...

I swapped a TT for a S35i. No regrets. Much better overall performance. HPFP? Both my cars are on N54 engines and I never had any problems. One of my friend damn sway kenna. He only coughed out 1.3k and everything settle (no more warranty).
