Recently acquired a E36 thats got another 2+ years on its COE. Still considering if i should splurge on it (and get another 10yrs) or just patch it up. Most of the WTS list parts for later models and i have no idea if they fit and E36 so just putting a list up here off the top of my head of the things i wanna replace.. hope it works.. lol

  1. front corner lights
  2. Steering Wheel
  3. Gear Knob/Stick
  4. Interior Fabric (roof and frames)
  5. Door Panels
  6. Suspension ( i think mine is dying)
  7. Brakes (already dead from the sound and the way i have to stand on them)
  8. A subwoofer, for some reason i have all the rest but no damn woofer

Budgeting about 1k a month.. cant splurge all at once.

Thanks

Re: WTB Parts for E36

I'll try to help out a bit...

  1. front corner lights -- go Propel and dig, think they have a lot
  2. Steering Wheel -- Propel have a few rewrap mtech, but I think you're better off getting from eBay
  3. Gear Knob/Stick -- go Eng Soon to Indent a E46 Mtech one, it's pretty nice...
  4. Interior Fabric (roof and frames) -- the pillars, go Eng Soon to indent, the roof piece also can but I think it could be rather ex...
  5. Door Panels -- go Propel n dig/ask
  6. Suspension ( i think mine is dying) -- dunno
  7. Brakes (already dead from the sound and the way i have to stand on them) -- get a OEM from Propel?... aftermarket not sure...
  8. A subwoofer, for some reason i have all the rest but no damn woofer -- ... hmmm...

Re: WTB Parts for E36

Lotsa thanks! i guess propel is the first stop.. damn rain.. wanted to go this morning..

Re: WTB Parts for E36

Suspension - you can consider replacing with stock or aftermarket ones. If you want to lower your car etc can try searching the forums for various combos that may be on sale by other brothers here.

Dead brakes - get a workshop to find out what is wrong. Pads no good, or internal system leaking? brake booster, master cylinder etc all contribute to braking power so if any of those are not working well then no chance that the brakes will be ok even with new pads, calipers, rotors etc.

Good used interior parts are hard to get. Pillars can indent from Eng Soon but to get new for A, B and C will cost more than 700-800 bucks. Door panels are much harder to find. Dashboard, armrest etc can all get from Propel - they have a lot.

Currently the PQP must be 30k+ to renew. Plus rebuilding cost which will add up... lots of dough here. Worth it for a 6-cylinder 325, if you ask me.

Re: WTB Parts for E36

Thanks alot brothers for all the advice, Pretty sad case about the PQP, major hurdle in wanting to properly rebuild and spend on the e36. but then again going to be driving this for at least another 2 years should do the basic or make the car something i would be proud of for sure, after all my first BMW. =D

Propel is the first stop, heading there today to do the digging around, then slowly grad to the rest. Need to start a thread on the progress of transformation, will do so later.. hope you brothers can guide

thanks a million.!

ps: JB got alot of aftermarket rewrapping for interior.. safe annot? the price they quote me all damn cheap.. not sure if got some hidden cost.

Re: WTB Parts for E36

i did my interior roof and pillar re-wrap in jb. done by a old uncle in his 60s. a well done job. took half a day, drop my car off early in the morning, picked it up in the afternoon. the very small shop is located near new york hotel. can't remember the name already.

Re: WTB Parts for E36

1k a month budget is pretty substantial. Eng Soon is your good friend
