Hi! I am looking for an old M50 intake manifold. Purpose is to swap with my M52 one as its very restrictive. Anyone selling?

Get from the US, there are none in Singapore

Propel sells a lot of M50B20 manifolds, they are not what you want, I searched the entire Propel premises I couldn't find any

The manifold you want is from the M50B25, it has the larger runners. When the US folks refer to the 'M50 manifold conversion' they are referring to the M50B25 manifold

Re: WTB: M50 Intake Manifold

The manifold from the M50B25 can use for M52B25 engine boh?

Yes, can. Just need minor mods for the vaccum hoses. Else the M50 manifold bolt right on.

Re: WTB: M50 Intake Manifold

Just found one in KL -- looking at RM 380 .U can contact him --Lionel Koh @ 0122207630.

Re: WTB: M50 Intake Manifold

just want to ask what benefit it will give the car having that kind of manifold. :)

Improvement in high end torque and HP. Can gain over 20HP. But will lose a bit of low and mid range torque.

Bro, u do 1st and let us know the outcome, if really diff, then i do mine..

Really wish to know anyone experience it here?

20hp more..woww..

Re: WTB: M50 Intake Manifold

I have the M50 manifold

you need to reprogramme your DME with new software to gain the extra power

there is no loss of torque per se.. but the entire powerband of the engine is shifted about 500rpm higher, it is not really noticable on a manual car, but on an automatic car it is really obvious the car will feel sluggish

The M50 manifold mod is for manual cars only.. and it's not recommended for engines smaller than 2.8L

Re: WTB: M50 Intake Manifold

Peter , u seems to have all the good stuff ! hahaha. Looks like this mod is not suitable for my Auto 328 - need heavy foot to enjoy the gain ! Stroker kit or SC will be a better route for me right ?

Re: WTB: M50 Intake Manifold

Hoho, definitely need heavy foot to enjoy. light footed will not because of the drop in air velocity due to larger runners.

But if you are intending to SC your car, you should change to the M50 manifold. Then you will get larger gains.

Hoho.... I think I can live with the lower torque for more power in the high end. Cause I am feel the engine acceleration is lacking afer 4K RPM which sucks big time.... :(

Anyway, for bigger CC cars like 2.8L, the drop in torque is not really noticeable. This manifold is originally meant for M50B25 which is a 2.5L engine.

Re: WTB: M50 Intake Manifold

The M50B25 is mapped using bosch electronics.. the M52's used Siemen's electronics.. using the M50 manifold on an M52 screws up the mapping, you must run it in conjuction with software

The best mod for an automatic bimmer is the increase the final drive ratio in the differential, this will give you instant, usable performance.

The automatic trans sucks up any incremental gain in power.. it ends up as heat in the ATF, there is very little use modding a engine stuck with an automatic transmission, especially older cars.. the gains are largely throttle response or imaginary, the car isn't actually faster

my engine is m52 320 only with automatic tranny. what is the best differential for it? i find it to be very slow when engine rpm is below 3,000. once it crosses that rpm, power for me is very good.
