want to buy a heatshield for my e36 316i..fabricated also can..or if anyone knows people who can do fabricated heat shields just pass me the contacts.

thanks bros

Im guessing he means intake?

Ive been looking for a heatshield for a K&N pod filter for soo long, but no luck. I dont know of any companies that manufacture one for the E36, so u will probably need something custom made.

Cheers,
Daniel

I did mine at Autodynamac 3019A Ubi Rd 1 #01-28 Singapore 408713
Telephone : 6745 9702

Speak to the boss Raymond. The one who fabricates heatshield is Ah Keong. The heatshield will be made of aluminium with thick heat resistant foam. Will probably include a ram air intake pipe. Takes at most half a day.

The heatshield is crucial for any open pod/cone filter. Totally solves the problem of poor pickup from standstill.

hmm, how much autodynamac charging for a typical heatshield setup?

They charged me $170 for the heatshield but a 3 series should be much cheaper. My heatshield is very big to enclose a lot more cold air because I have lots more space in my engine bay. Just tell him the guy with the blue Z4 recommended you, will get better price.

Oh, so he can make the heatshiled for any car?

I have 318i, but im in australia :( Does he need to have the car there in order to make the heat shiled, or if i just tell him that i have a 318i, would he be able to make it for me?

Because my car is in Australia, so i cant bring it to let him make one :p

Cheers,
Daniel

i think a heatshield that can fit a 316i should be able to fit a 318i...wana go down together? den maybe can get it cheaper.

dunitt_e36,

Assuming that the E36 engine bay is identical for both engines than yes but I'm sure it will be cheaper to have one fabricated in Aussie land than to have one sent down south from Singapore. After all, Aussie land is mod paradise.

Is your car a LHD or RHD?

:)

Yep, mine is RHD :)

I will take a photo of the engine bay later and post it

And yea, we can go down together if its the same, and hopefully get discount :D

Daniel

wau, $170 sounds pretty ex...but at the end of the day, its the material/workmanship that matters, no point paying peanuts and get a mess out from it.

I shall check it out! Thanks dude! :)

spacie,

Can save more money using cardboard. My friend made the first heat shield for my car using recycled box.
