I hear sometimes cars do get through with comprehensive if you already owned the car prior to them turning 10+ yrs and the insurance co. just renews as per normal under comprehensive. But once they figure it out, they will down you to 3rd Party. Total lose will base on "market value". But i have no idea what that means, some say they take value of other similar cars on sale and base from there, others say base on whatever "paper" value your car has which is the worst case scenario.
