wooooooooooooo sound from engine during hot weather

Any gurus advice - ever experience
woooooooooooooooooo sound from the engine, sounds like a fan especially obvious when driving off from stationary/lights etc. particularly obvious on hot days and requires a few seconds of hard acceration for this " wooooooooooooooooooooo" sound to release before you heard the normal engine roars.

Jeez I am actually anyone actually understand what I am describing. If you do ..let me know =))))

Hi dude, I have this woooo sound before and it was due to the power steering pump. However, mine's an E36 316 (M40) engine.

The E46 could be different and perhaps if you can provide more info on your car and engine model, those having similar models may shed some lights.

Hey JAWs - E46 320i, 2171cc, sports edition- brought it to PML and was brushed off saying it was valve opening for hot air exit etc etc. It is a feature they claimed.

hey jawzsg...how is the sound linked to the power steering pump?

I drive the same car with the same engine as you...and i think i also experience the wooo sound...power steering pump has been changed less than 1 yr ago...can explain? thanks bro

The wooo sound comes on shortly after you start and hangs around for a while. Eventually, it will goes softer. Power steering fluid level drops gradually as well and when I check, the power steering pump was leaking due to wear.

Wow, the 2.2 engine.. sorry dude but me not well verse with your engine to provide any help at all.. Hope other bros can help chipped in.

Saw you too...that spoiler is nowhere to be found now... try e-bay or post in UK... ask for the DTM. But bro, seriously, that thingy weight a ton..
