Wiper hitting bonet

To all experts,

Due to the recent rainy weather, my old e60,s wiper get to work harder. Suddenly one fine there are some knocking sound from the wipers and after some investigation i found that the bigger of the two wiper arm is hitting the bonet.

can anyone explain the cause and give me the solution?
