Widely rumored that the new 2012 M3 will be powered by a 3.0 turbo-charged straight 6 engine that produces 450bhp. No more 4 liter V8. Will you buy it?

I got a good reason to want one... save on road tax! :yummie:

Re: Will you buy the new 2012 M3?

:( sad to hear tat no more v8....
:) nice for ppl to cut road tax n insurance...

btw, the car looks nice...

Re: Will you buy the new 2012 M3?

I feel they should turbo charged their 3.4 liters.
Else too similar to n54 n55

Re: Will you buy the new 2012 M3?

Bigger turbos, smaller boost...... but sad that even the pedigree breed amongst the BMW stable will also change to pariah.......

Re: Will you buy the new 2012 M3?

The main Joy of an M3 is the high revving V8 and that's the main reason why I chose it over the Cayman Ass.

I noticed from the new M5 Video that the tachometer redlines at close to 7,000rpm...shame. :(

More preferable for M to lessen the displacement and slap on turbos if they must, but they should NOT make it lower revving or have fewer cylinders!!

Re: Will you buy the new 2012 M3?

yes, if the following criterias are met -

1. at least 60kg lighter than v8 na model.
2. linear in power delivery just like n54 which is very linear in delivery.
3. twin-turbo and not single turbo twin scoll (mod potential
4. hpfp problems plaguing the twin-turbos have been solved.

Why can't my 3L turbo BMW be 450bhp? :(

sure can depending on how much $$ willing to spend.

US guys with big-turbos on n54 are pulling about 750+ bhp on meth.

Re: Will you buy the new 2012 M3?

I think BMW M will make a new 3.5L to 3.7L Twin-scroll Twin Turbo. I say one.

Why? 3L too close to 335. Cannot be too close to M5 also.

Re: Will you buy the new 2012 M3?

All cars now are all using turbo Liao... To get na engine in future is diff liao...

Re: Will you buy the new 2012 M3?

Very nice offset and fierce-looking. Close resemblance to another american muscle car?

Re: Will you buy the new 2012 M3?

it looks nice... but some how reminds me of Mitsubishi evo? I will take it if it is above 3.5l

Re: Will you buy the new 2012 M3?

..welcome views on the 2012 M5...cause I am considering this upgrade..was told by MUNICH that this will be V8, twin scroll...

Re: Will you buy the new 2012 M3?

But is this is a 3.0 Twin Turbo.. Then the 335i? Won't it be like same...but different?

Re: Will you buy the new 2012 M3?

The trend for most Europe carmarkers seem to be manufacturing lower engine cc and slap a turbo on it, thus without compromise in h/p and torque. This is most evident in VW and Volvo cars and this has in connection with the CO2 emission foot print control imposed by the European Communities - smaller cc less CO2 foot print.

Re: Will you buy the new 2012 M3?

hmmm... we will probably see a 1.6 or 2.0L 3cyclinders turbo 335 infuture .... heehee

Correct and reality of life. Everything circles around CO2 emission.
