If sound coming from centre console, check gear box. This sort of sound can result from faulty bearings as well. Aircon could be another possibility.
Turn off sound system & see got sound or not, from there, can eliminate the possibilities.
Looks like a workshop is needed as oppose to an ICE shop. If car is above 4 yrs, factoring in mileage, driving habits (previous owner as well) etc, gd luck.
Send car in for a through check, rather than addressing faults in a piece-meal manner. If need be, get 2nd opinion on faults from the usual listed workshops here.

We all own e60 previosuly.. I tell u when ur car start to jerk when up shifting or coming to a stop..
Prepare to part with 2mths salary..
Oh ya oil sump leak.. Most prob happen at the 100k km mark.. Another 1 mth salary
Bushings and mounting 1 mth salary
Small time problems like pumps , sensors , seat belts sensor , dsc control unit etc.. Another 1 mth salary
Steering rack and pinion.. 1 mth salary
I assume 1 mth salary is 5k btw..
Good luck.. Whenever I think back of what happen to all the e60s I saw before.. I shiver

Yes, I'll if were you & like I have suggested, if your workshop cun trouble-soot the sound or you feel that they luan soot than get 2nd or 3rd opinions.
Besides those 2 workshops you've mentioned, can go Boss or Tropical Success.
