hi bros...

...when shd i send my car in for servicing?

Well, we do have a habit of changing the engine oil after the 1st 2,000km. Its after running in the engine as well as flushing away the dirty fluids in the engine...

Its more of a precaution rather than a proven fact though... :wavey:

Ermm... if I am not wrong, I think that BMWs should only be run on premium grade petrol, hence, in your case, mobil 8000, and not the 5000.

bigblue,

Shell V-Power... nothing less...

I am already spending $500 per month running on Shell 98. How to afford V-power??

:(

wah so much? How much is your mileage per month? I fill about less than $400 per month. But I travel on the PIE alot.

The Mobil 8000 or the Shell 98 does fine...

They are graded at 98 Octane, V-Power is extravagant, not a necessity... :)

5000 or the Shell 95 is not suitable if u have a 6cyclinder cos the car is designed to run on minimum 98 Octane

u mean 5000 in your last sentence right.

u can also pump caltax gold at a minimum, or platinum if you have extra cash to throw, but dont pump in silver. Actually does anyone know if 95 octane will actually cause any knocking?

I top up on Shell 98...every month I papmper the engine a bit...give her 1 tank of V Power to cleanup....very painful when I pump V power....cost me 100plus per tank !! Blardy hell....

Sometime play cheat....use those petrol additive STP injector cleaner once every 10K km to clean up.

But I read somewhere before that BMW is tuned using 95RON only. But in SG context...the price between a tank of 95 & 98 is not even enuff to buy a Macdonald Happy Meal !!! What saving ??? 1 yr saving from using 95 is enough to go for a hoilday overseas to Sentosa ??? :screwedu:

Ghostrider,

Haha... every cents count bro...

Did you read on the forum pages in ST about a begger who reject 2 5cents coins ??? U tell me every cents count ??

I think better convert my engine to take disesl fuel....M'sia very popular conversion !! Many big CC cars are changing to diesel engines. Even they also cannot tahan the petrol cost !!

my workshop manuals say the samee thing..that 95 octane fuel is ok [E36 4-potter M40).. do the more experience chaps here only use 98 octane? seriously looking at the bleeding prices.. we're looking at a big surge in gas prices..(then again, even if the oil prices come down, its unlikely that the gas companies HERE will bring it dwn proportionately...)

thanx for sharing!
