Just for discussion sake, which of the following represents a better buy? Assuming both are new, and options similar

2009 Nov PML Z4 s35i
COE 16,290
OMV 68,800
Price 238,888

2010 PI Z4 s35i
COE 47,800
OMV 57,800
Price 211,000

How do you determine which is a better buy in terms of resale, depreciation, etc comments?

Hi Daniel,

what Mark meant is 2010 production Z4 is it S35is instead of the normal S35i?
could it be also MY 09 but registered in 2010?

Looking at the the pricing: of course PI unit will be a better buy to me...........(provided is ready stock ya)

cheers

Re: which is a better buy?

its actually a 09 production s35i thats been sitting in th showroom for a while.

On a side note, i was under the impression that the s35i still continues to be in production. is it the case?

Re: which is a better buy?

Drive to 5 years or less, get the PI car.

Drive beyond 5 years, get the PML car.

Re: which is a better buy?

2010 PI Z4 s35i
COE 47,800
OMV 57,800
Price 211,000

Better buy - PI, new car and being the 1st owner, however make sure the car already in Singapore and not on indent basis, as I went PI route and happily save the on the interest rate too on my PI Z4 in June.

Re: which is a better buy?

thanks for the comments..

sorry i didnt make myself clearer, my bad. I meant to ask which owner had a better deal.

owner 1 that got from PML last year, or owner 2 that just brought the PI car.

Re: which is a better buy?

Assuming same specs, lower price even with much higher COE = margin compression at the dealer's end.

Re: which is a better buy?

When you getting your M3?

Focking COE is so high now cannot buy. Car also cannot sell :verysad:

Re: which is a better buy?

Here is my computation :

OMV + ARF + COE, Reg fees + road tax (6month) + Excise duties + GST.
Total cost for PML = 174.7K. Selling price = 238,888 Gross Margin = 27%
Total cost for PI = 181K. Selling price = 211,000. Gross Margin = 14%

I am not sure if the OMV represents real cost of transfer from the UK or Germany. It may be
higher than actually declared. Say it is a few thousand higher and also not to forget need to pay for 3-yr warranty some more..not much left. Cost of money, Showroom, freight from habour to warehouse or showroom, insurance to cover the sea voyage, sales man comm, rental, bills and other expense not yet included. So should be low single digit liao...so sure good deal. If there is one selling at 211K...plse let me know too :)

depreciation is lower on the PI car...... whether you drive full 10 years or sell at 5 years...
