By the way, this webby is in German.

E60s headed for S'pore are from Germany........ for now.
Those Bimmer in China...... only certain parts are from Bavaria..... but the assembly is questionable there.
So for now, its still safe in Singapore

I also dont know.
But the BMW plant in China is in Shenyang.

Yes that is true.
The Malaysia assembly plant does just that .... assembles CKD (Complete Knock Down) cars.
I know they assemble the 3-Series for the MY market. Not sure about the 5-series though, perhaps.
But the 7-series, like in Singapore, comes from the Rayong plant in southern Thailand.
X3 has only one factory in Austria, built by Magna Steyr.
X5 comes from the USA plant.
Singapore's 3-series sedans all come from Africa, with the exception of the 'new' 318i, which is made in Germany.
All Singapore's 5-Series sedans are from Germany.

BMW have 12 plants currently.
Only 2 in Germany....... but got 2 in China(Shanghai & Shenyang), US, S.Africa, Malaysia, Thailand........ just to name a few.
Good news for all E60 owner who feel peace of the mind only if their ride comes from Germany. E60 is currently the only Bimmer series that comes from Germany.

You are right. They got the gold award in 2008, which was the latest assessment. 2009 result will only be out next March.

The Magna Steyr plant in Austria (manufacturing the X3 and 6-Series) also won gold awards over a few years running.

Seems like cars from ALL diffrent countries are priced the same in Singapore. End user will not gain $$$ benefits.
All along I was thinking that maybe the thai 7 series will be 'cheaper' compared to one made in germany.
Anyone bought in Malaysia the local assembled 3-series? Is it cheaper than german/africa built?

You sure the 7 series comes from Thailand? I know they have a plant there but I thought the ones bound for Singapore are from Germany? Is this the E65/66 or the F01/02?
Quite disappointed since the 7 is THE flagship car....
