When to change spark plugs and what is recommended?

Hi guys,

My E90/320 is close to 3 years at 76000km. When should I change the spark plugs? What plugs are recommended? Learned from the forum that some of you used ND Iridium while others use NGK or stock plugs, etc.

Any advice will be much appreciated, thanks!

stick with NGKs it is time to change although rated for 100000km Singapore traffic is no good for the clean burn....

Hi desertfox65, I have just bought 4 Bosch Platinum plugs from Eng Soon although they said both NGK Iridium and Bosch Plastimum are stock plugs for E90/320. Can I use the Bosch Platinum plugs? I intend to change plugs every 70 - 80k since they are not that expensive.

Bosch should be just fine.......

I recommend Bosch IR fusion SPs (you can buy it from MXtrading). Just changed my Denso IR to the Bosch, can feel an immediate improvement in performance.

Can I have the spark plugs changed at any neighbourhood workshops? Do I need to reset the ECU after changing the spark plugs? Thanks!

Hi OYG,

Did you feel the engine more perky after the spark plug change?
My car have clocked more than 60k and i feel that its performance is not so good anymore.
BTW, what plug you use?

At 60K you may need to get the MAF cleaned as well ;replacing spark plug alone will not give you a very big change in performance.

which workshop can do a proper MAP cleaning? mine's has more than 100k on it and i have not gone its MAF cleaned.

any of the recommended workshops can do that.
Usually they spray with cleaner or similar. Unless you are familair, do not DIY or you may damage it.

I also need to change sparks soon also.
If Rod's mod does temp me enough, i might just go that direction rather then using back the stock plugs.
