everyone always ask rims... tire size... i always wondered tire pressure... its not stated on the tires itself.. then how do we know whats the proper tire pressure for particular tire? hmmmm

Re: whats the proper tire pressure???

just pump maximum terry.....

haha kidding lah.....should be abt 240 range.....

Re: whats the proper tire pressure???

I thought we would just follow the instruction manual. or when you open the driver's door, at the centre pillar, there is a plate stated the chassis no. paint code and the tyres pressure.

Re: whats the proper tire pressure???

i pump front 235/35/19" 38psi and rear 265/30/19"40psi. But Leong Seng recommend 40psi all round.

Re: whats the proper tire pressure???

I would pump according to factory recommendation, front 220 and rear 250 metric units not psi.

Re: whats the proper tire pressure???

woooo 40 psi is wayyyyyyyyyy too much

35psi absolute maximum

Re: whats the proper tire pressure???

I have been running as a ball park about 80% of the limit stated on the tires...

That is about 36 PSI.... so far so good....

Not sure about the current ride, but my previous rides as all been lasting around 40 to 45k....

Re: whats the proper tire pressure???

Follow the instructions at the driver's side door lah.

If you're outta range of what's stated, then you gotta rely on the seat of your pants.

All pressures stated at 24 degrees C. After that you have to increase 10% for every 10 degrees C IIRC.

Re: whats the proper tire pressure???

how to follow drivers door instruction with aftermarket wheels?

put nitrogen at 35psi, done

Re: whats the proper tire pressure???

+35 to +36 wld be good. +40 is way too high.

Re: whats the proper tire pressure???

yeah with Nitrogen you can inflate at any temp without compensation.

Phil the driver's door instruction has an entire matrix of possible wheel combos, no??

yes, but only for the type of wheels that car would be optioned with. SO i guess i gotta look at the new M3 to get the 19" pressure!!

Re: whats the proper tire pressure???

if you read the matrix by the door side, there are two recommendation. one for normal 4pax and the other for 4pax plus luggage. based on 225/35/19" & 255/30/19" for 4pax+luggage, it say 260kpa (37.7psi) for front and 310 (44.9psi) for rear. however, on the 4pax only recommendation is F210kpa (30psi) & R230kpa (33psi)

mine are F235 & R265 tires which is slightly larger, so I tot I just increase a bit lo. cos I drive my family every weekend for grocery. maybe i will adjust to be in between. been raining a lot. better go do my pressure check during lunch.

Re: whats the proper tire pressure???

For my 21s, I usually inflate to 32psi. Feels alright for me. Grip is perfect, and not too 'bouncy'.

Re: whats the proper tire pressure???

dunlop and Michelin websites normally recommned the tyre pressure on thier website if you run car selector, try the UK websites of both companies.

Sorry but I think these shops got it all wrong. South East reccos me to pump 300kpa all round on 235/35/19:screwedu: . Thats the max limit boss:yikess: .

PML reccos 2.0/2.2 bars(whatever that translates to in kpa) nia

Re: whats the proper tire pressure???

lyneous... isnt 40psi all round too much? i was thinking 36 front 38 rear...

im running on 245/30/20 and 295/25/20 .... anyone using this size can give me feedback ?

Re: whats the proper tire pressure???

Until I got my e46, I would usually pump 34 - 35 psi per tyre all round.

The owner manual for the e46 was an eye opener.
It recommends 32 psi (front) and 39 psi (rear) for a 225 x 45 x 17, which I have followed. I also check the max recommended pressures on the tyre walls just to be safe.

Interestingly, the manual recommends pressures up to 49 psi for the rears, depending on the tyre size and passenger load. Personally, I would be wary of exceeding 40 psi on any tyre.

Re: whats the proper tire pressure???

2.0 bar is 240kpa or 35 psi

I will say this for the last time

DO NOT pump more than 35psi. You will get uneven wear in the centre of the tyre, more road noise, less grip, less front end feel and harsher ride. Never put a different amount in front or rear, always the same. If you are anal, 33psi is optimum.

Terry since when do you have 20's?
