Before I buy my present car. I send the car to STA for inspection. So result showed there was a leakage from the engine compartment. My dealer offered to send the car to PML for repair & I agreed. So, the gasket was replaced. After driving my car for about 2 weeks. I realised that there was still leakage from the engine compartment. So, I send my car back to PML as it is still under warranty & thinking that they never do a good job. But, I was told that the leaked was due to my engine cover was slightly out of shape as the result of the leakage. Furthermore, the oil pump was leaking too. Total cost to repair is about $1,600.

Wow... Quickly, I claimed back my car. I brought all the parts from Eng Soon & send it to outside workshop for repair. Total cost with servicing cost me about $1,350. Still worth it compare to PML.

Lately, I was told that my radiator fan is extremely loud. So, I send my car to one of the sponsor workshop for a check. I was told the radiator fan controller is kaput. The whole unit have to be replace.

Aiyah..... $$$$ again. The workshop did not quote me how much will be the repair cost as they don't know how much will the part cost. :verysad:

Any bro know roughly how much will it cost?? I was also told that my rotor disc & brake pads for front & rear are going to wear off too. $$$$ again.

I really don't know what's more after the repair..... Now that I know that old car have to send $$ to rectify all the fault & also time wasted too..... Next time must think twice if buying 2nd car.

Sorry friends.. Just feel like letting go some frustration.

Sad to hear your case. You should have read more about even thinking to send your car to PML. They are shit for service. They never get anything solved. Probably try getting Eng Soon to quote for the part and check availability then you can get it replaced outside. Or you can try Boss Motorsports to let them analyse your car in greater detail and let you know whats wrong with it. Don't ever waste time with PML again. They are hopeless beyond words.

PML is really hopeless. When they replace my gasket. Don't tell me they don't my engine cover is out of shape?? or they are the culprit who cause my cover out of shape?? Give up man.....

What has an engine cover going out of shape has anything to do with the gaskets ? Mechanically, the engine cover serves no functional purpose but to make the engine bay look nice and clean without any exposed wire harness and/or lines.

PML is lilke that. Even if its their own fault, they will push it to customers and insist its their fault. Many have been through it and they know how it is like going through after-sales with PML. I say make a ruckus especially infront other customers. You can't play nice with these idiots there.

Radiator fan assembly is around 400. Asked Eng Soon before.

Re: What's more???? Frustration. - Radiator Fan Kaput

I think PML refering to Valve Rocker Cover (Plastic)

one workshop mentioned to me that for a daily driven e36 (6 cylinders), the plastic "valve rocker cover (?)" (silver in color) needs to be replaced every two to three years or when oil starts to "leak into the spark plugs". reason given: plastic warpage as a result of the high engine temperatures. wonder how true is this...

Re: What's more???? Frustration. - Radiator Fan Kaput

Dont know which E90 he is refering too but if his is the 320i.....then to solve engine oil leaks..there is a list of parts to change i.e a lot of O rings in many locations, Valve gasket, Oil sump gasket, Vacuum Pump, Oil seperators, Oil filter housing rubber gasket.. gurantee you no leak and oil level never drop even after 5k done...

1st of all, u set a wrong expectation about BMW. BMW is not M1 Abrams. Since E38/E39, a lot of parts are in plastic. With our climate and hi operating temp, it is not going to last.

2nd, it is always a good practise to sent used car for full maintenance service ASAP. Change out ATF, rear differential oil & etc. I even change the tyre because it is more than 3 yrs out of the factory..

Lastly, to check whether u need to replace brake rotor (do it when it is cold), u need to run thru the surface. U need to change it when it has "wave".

dude, i know you think BMW is Bring More Women but a little, it is Bring More Worries a lot .... :lol2:

Re: What's more???? Frustration. - Radiator Fan Kaput

Yes. I recall back. Zorro is right. Is the Valve Rocker Cover (Plastic) that was out of shape. I was told by the workshop, he only come across 2 cases so far. Mine is the 3rd case. It is very rare that the rocker cover out of shape.

I when to STA together with the dealer while get my car for inspection. I did asked the mechanic to check the rotor disc & brake pads. I was told that it can be use for another year before it wear off. As for ATF. I was given PML service records by the dealer that the previous owner just change & service it few months back. Therefore, I did bother to change it. I only do a normal servicing for my car.

Re: What's more???? Frustration. - Radiator Fan Kaput

Thanks to Albert for selling your brake set to me. I get it replaced at one of the workshop at Bt. Merah Lane 3. Labour + brake fluid + brake sensor = $178. I thinks is worth it.

Next week I will be getting the radiator fan unit from Propel to replace it. I hope no more nonsense from my car again.

Thanks to all the bros here for your concern and advice.

Hope everything goes well for you. Btw, how old is your E90 and its mileage when you bought over, only to encounter all these issues?

This is a sep 2005 car. Mileage is about 105k, one owner. This car has been regularly sent to PML for maintenance with all the receipts as proved. But, old car mean old car. No matter how, wears & tears will still set in. So, buy 2nd hand car must be prepared to spend some money to rectify all the problems.

Re: What's more???? Frustration. - Radiator Fan Kaput

My car hit 40k a lot of wear and tear parts starts to fail......so at 105k sure need a lot of maintenance if the previous owner didnt replace them...watch out for things like gear-box slips/jerk, spark plug ignition coil, Valvetronic motor, position sensor, suspension components, brake system and the cooling and air-cond system.

BMW is not as reliable when compare to the Jap/Kor cars due to the design and the high operating temp here....
