Re: What will you do if you know into someone's car and owner is not around?

Just a few days back I witness a similar incident in Temasek Tower a Red Lexus LS400 SBT222Z i think it was reversed into a red van. I told the guy to leave a number but he didn't so I left his license plate number, time it happened and the witnesses around at the time on the victims windshield.

Happened once when i was in sch still. Was sitting in the car waiting for class to start. Saw this car back into another parked car and she thought no one saw her. She drove off and parked at another spot further away. Took down the license plate and left it on the windshield of the hit car and left my contact number. Also reported to people in charge of parking.

Tough call, bro. Tough.

On one hand lies one's individual character, whether he wanna stand firm to his mistakes. Some will, most will not. This could turn out to be really situational. Cannot really fault anyone for not being "honest" and "integral" enough to leave a note or contact. A parallel could be drawn on someone who has found a bag of cash. On paper many might champion the ethical aspects, but in reality, there are people who will rob even a mobile phone.

On the other hand lies one's sense of accountability and responsibility. Some characters have more senses of guilt and apology, and they mighty even wait for the owner to return. Others might be more defensive - actually, I'd think many will behave this way - "not my fault what, he parked so far out......" At the end of the day, individual's benchmark of value judgement is very different......

There is another aspect - probability of getting caught, or spotted. That might alter someone's propensity for guilt admission.

Really not an easy issue to handle, if the question is directed to you as a perpetrator. Just like asking: would you own up when you commit traffic offences? Like speeding? Some will even "cheat" a few minutes for parking coupons......

Re: What will you do if you know into someone's car and owner is not around?

You know wat...most would drive away. I'ld say 99%.

And this same 99% would take advantage of the tipping system if we went with the US style of minimum 15% on top.

But if u hit the car belonging to one of these 99%, they'ld probably try to stiff you for extra cash and work in miscellaneous unrelated flaws and problems.

U know how in OZ, you drive to the farm areas, they can have unmanned fruit stalls. You try that in singapore...they'ld take all the fruits, steal the tin holding all the money even if all coins, pack the table up and leave.

I was walking in front of a guy in Paragon some years back. Walking down the narrow corridor to the toilet. He was telling his girl companion that he just came back from Europe, he didn't see his shirt on sale over there so it was bought downstairs at some branded shop.He thinks the steak at Lawry's is good cos he eats there often. Then as i was putting in 20 cents into the machine to enter the gents, he was softly telling the girl :" No la no need to pay one...just follow him in." I burst out laughing. Well the girl started giggling too cos i looked back at him. It just cracked me up. So many ppl are just poseurs. Moral integrity? Honesty, integrity? Admit when they're wrong? Yea, it happens. Few and far between.

Sorry that it happened to you Doc, it could happen to any of us. Matt black grills? Maybe it's a sign to spray liao.

wow..ur wife drives a Z4? hmm..to me,it seems like someone did it on purpose..JEALOUS??
out of 100% i think 80% is cause by jealousy..so i dun think the person who reversed into her car want to own up..but if its not on purpose,i think the owner should own up..unless he got no money to repair that Z4..

Muahahahaha, the fruit stall analogy is good. In US and Canada, they sell newspapers in cubes, where you could slot in a coin and open the cube box for a copy of the papers. If that is imposed in Singapore, you will have some jokers slotting in a coin, and remove all the papers. You might or might not see him with the stack at a ma-piew-poh stand.

They give out Today and Streats (previously) at MRT stations. Once I saw this auntie taking a stack. She is not your typical ah-soh type, more so on the secretarial/clerical type. When I "suan-ed" her about her behaviour, she retorted, "free mah, take first lah."

Grace is a word that I am finding it hard to be applied here. Sorry, doc, if grace was present, you need not even post this thread.

Clear enough now? Must we put a moving gif before you understand? Don't shit on other people's meaningful threads. If you have shit dump it over at the "Disregard this post" thread.

OoooOo touche.

Reminds me of a real life account I read some time back in RD:

A chap saw another fellow gently whacked into a parked vehicle. He was impressed that the same fella came out of his car, scribbled smtg on a post-it, put it securely beneath the wiper, then droved off.

The chap on walking pass the parked car, sneaked a peek and it actually said "As I'm writing this, there are a few pairs of eyes watching me... they think I'm writing down my contact. Well... I'M NOT!!

:oooops:

Take some time to understand life, and living it actually. Be patient.

Not true. I care for all the gals in your signature.

On a serious note, there is a perverse nature of a lack of sympathy on drivers of luxury marque, or at least it seems that way. A Merc or BMW was hit and damaged on the expressway - nobody give a hoot. A Corolla badly damaged - other drivers might help. Strange, or was I being too suspicious and sceptical?

Re: What will you do if you knock into someone's car and owner is not around?

I hope I dont hv to run into this kinda situation but should I do, I would (for once in life) leave my number on the windscreen and find out what is going to happen to me later on.

But for sure, I won't leave a note for lorry/minivan/taxis haha...
