What to check before long trip?

My hiadee jio me go for drive to Penang. Last thurm I drove there 3 years ago in my 320i...swee swee boh tai chee.

Err hmm, so if I drive my 335 there, which is a hotter engine, and hot means more potential problems, what items on the car must I check or consider replacing to ensure I have a trouble free trip?

Spark plugs?
Radiator fluid?
Gearbox fluid?
Power steering fluid?
Tyre pressure?
Aircon?
Air intake filter?
Oil change?
HPFP?

Ahhh...one good hiadee just sms me.

I have goodyear asym f1 tyres in front , aka sidewall-can-crack-anytime tyre! better change that to bridgestone Gr90 like what I have at the rear, smooth n quiet.

Nowadays I drive slow slow already. Enjoy the scenery, stop more often for pee breaks, lim kopi at R&R stops.....8) MYTP no business:shhhh:

think just need to go for routine checks, ensure hoses are not old and leaking.
cos NSHY is very tempting, very easy can hoot 250km/h.. so ensure all hoses and pumps, belts are in good condition.

2 incidents:
in 2008, my 3 year old C200, while hooting at 220km/h along that stretch of road in lim chu kang, suddenly engine sluggish, some smoke coming out from bonnet.
in the end kena tow away.
problem? leaking hose. change to new one, ready to hoot again. :twisted:

in march 2010, my 523, while also hooting 150km/h trying to catch the "Make a wish foundation' racing convoy, I-drive state engine overheat, gotta pull one side, kena tow again.
problem? fan belt faulty. change new one, ready to hoot again. :twisted:

some wear and tear parts just gotta be careful, and not easy to spot them, unless they gave way...and sometimes they give way at the wrong time. :thinking:

That's why i nvr hoot more than 150km/h.

Check that you have enough cash or credit card in your pocket and maybe AAM phone number...

Also check that you have enough sleep and alert enough to start the journey...
