Re: What Singapore can learn from Europe By Tommy Koh
Management and engineering wise, tried out some local fresh grad engineers and they seem good. Good attitude, detailed, thinking longer term than just today or this month, learn fast, even if not so good with hands on.
On the other hand, mechanic side have tried out some ITE mechanics and they are horrible. How anyone can be so disconnected with reality thinking they come out of school and without any hardwork, long hours, building experience, go straight to working on Ferrari engines? Can't even tighten 3 bolts, how to work on a 12 cylinder engine? Don't even know the proper names for the most basic of tools, or a fastener callout. Plus want relative high pay for how thoughtless their work is. The Malaysian country-boys with near zero education, but some hands on with their own cars and bikes, true passion for motorsport, have far better attitude, work ethic, learning speed, independence, and are happier with less. Literally 2 - 3 times more worth it than local ITE "mechs".
