What should it indicate after servicing?

When I first took delivery of the car, the OBC indicated that the oil change should be at 12000km. When I was nearer to 12000km, there was a remainder. After servicing, the indicator is still at 12000km but there is no remainder every time I start my car. Is this like that? How would I know when is the next servicing? Advice, please. Thanks....

Re: What should it indicate after servicing?

I think computer is either not accurate or not properly set by the technician. Mine indicated it is due for oil change in another 900km in 10/2010. My current mileage is 7,100km after 10 months, or 710km per month. I suspect one possibility is it thinks I started owning the car from the day it left the factory, hence it calculated that the average usage is 150km per month.

12K is correct as its a count-down and not a cumulative. So it will progressively reduce till 0km where your next servicing is due, unless your mileage is very low and other time-based changes kick in, eg brake fluid replacement etc.

Thanks for all the replies. Appreciate it! I will monitor the 12k thing and see if it will count down or not.

Yes, it's a countdown mileage rather than on your total mileage travelled.

But as a guide, usual servicing and oil change is receommended after every 10,000km.
