Yes, your brake fluid is low. Get it serviced as soon as you can.

Is that warning light specifically for low fluid or does it also come on after a certain no. of km/time since the last service? I think that in most cases we should be renewing brake fluid not because its low but because after a while it loses performance from absorbing too much water.

Go have a look at the brake fluid reservoir and see the level as well as the color ...... If murky then maybe it's time to flush rather than top up ......
