And I will "forth" it hehehehe, totally agree with u, no going back, I am still enjoying every bit of the gearbox !!!!
SMG rules..... The drive will not be complete without the jerk !! and anyway for those SMG drivers here will agree with me that it can be smooth if we wants to make it smooth...
And I have only used like 4 days of the auto mode in my car for the last 3 years hehehe !!

I find the GB quite smooth if you know how to use it. I hardly get any jerks
Guys, how often do you change your SMG clutches? I'm about 40K into mine already not sure when's a good time. Don't wanna wait for GB light to come on either.

The SMG clutch should rightfully last from 60-80k mileage based on our kind of driving. However, I changed it the last time when there was a leak at the SMG pump, which wet the clutch and the car was jerky everytime i move off...
If u sticking to the original clutch, the labour will definitely be more ex than the clutch haha !! The original clutch cost ard $350.
For those looking to change the clutch, it may be a good idea to look at the seal of the SMG pump and replace if necessary cos the labour to drop the GB is pretty ex.
For Jaskin, u may want to know that you can fit the 330SMG 5 speed clutch, which has got higher friction coefficient than the 325 ones...

Actually I always wanted to say this.....
A lot of ppl, especially those that have not driven one (test drive not counted) always claim that SMG is jerky but i always think that it's unfair to compare the SMG with the auto. The century sprint timing speaks for itself, let alone the fuel economy.
I like to think that SMG is really a sports manual wheras the auto is for luxury, where BMW provided with a seamlessly smooth cross over between gears.
If u then compare it with a manual car and think that it's jerky, think about it again, can u change gears in a manual car in 0.17 sec and lift off the clutch without jerk ? Those who have sat in a EBO or a SCOOBY will know what I am talking about, that is one hell of a whiplash !
Most SMG driver will know that driving in town, where u just want to smooth drive, just lift off the throttle a little and the gears still can go in smoothly without any jerk, and when u just want just hammer it down, u will agree that the drive will not be completed without the head hitting on the head rest haha !!!
And the SMG comes with launch control... the manual and auto don't hehehe !!!!

U hit the nail on the head there Alan....!! Yes u can drive in auto mode fairly smoothly, its all about
controlling yr throttle, i know i have manage to do it thats y i normally cruise CTE even in traffic in auto..works well for me hehe.
The beauty of SMG is that u dun need to heel n toe and it blips when downshifting but hey i still like that headbanging feeling especially in sport mode. I can only envy u la Jack that u have so many prog. Oh by the way i have never sat in an M3 on sepang. How abt one soon !
