Hi,

I want to make my ride E36 more aggressive with wheels look more flush to the body and tires thinner. Right now its on 225/40/ 17" and I think its lowered with lowering springs. Have not decided on whether to go for 17" or 18" yet, or use existing rims

Hope you guys can tell me what is the best kind of rim and tire combi for 17" and 18" to achieve that look without fender roll or problem U-Turning.

I have seen some BMWs with rather low profile tires, side walls look stretch inwards, how do I achieve that?

to use back ur original rims and make them flush, u need spacers to achieve it.
depending on how much u push out the rims by, it may require u to roll fender, esp. if ur car is lowered and carrying load, going up or down slopes.

by changing rims, esp to a set with a smaller offset, u do not need to apply spacers to achieve the flush looks.
and lastly, how low profile u want the tire to be, depends on what size of rims u want to get.
obviously the larger the rims, the 'thinner' the tires.

The easy way is to use spacers.

The more "appropriate" way of not using spacers is to change to wheels with more aggressive offsets than your stock 41-47 offsets.

Having said that, your rear fender will likely rub with (1) a lowered suspension setup (2) a fender-flushed wheel (3) a squarish body tyre and (4) with little or no camber. Solution - roll the fender.

Not sure what you meant by "stretch inwards".......

Let's assume you meant the roundish shoulder look - tyre selection is important here. Some tyres have squarish shoulders (Bridgestones, Yokohama) while others have rounder cross section (Michelin).

Let's assume you meant tyres with lip protection - this means the inner edges of the tyres have a caved-in feature to protect the wheels from kerbing. Example CSC2/3s have better wheel lip protection than PS2. From the cross section view, you will see your wheels hiding inside the tyres.
