Vincar policy about servicing

Hi

Anyone bought from Vincar before?

I just collected my car...was told to remember to go for 1k servicing...was told i must do the servicing (oil change) at the appointed workshop....if not warranty void...

Any truth in this?

Re: Vincar policy about servicing

why would they void warranty for changing engine oil? even PML allows other brands of engine oil without immediately voiding warranty unless proven to be engine oils doing.

so i should just ignore and change anywhere i like?

i don like PML's restrictions...thats why i did not go back to them...now seems like Vincar also like that...know who i can check with besides my SA?

from what i gather its not so much the oil change, but rather the stipulated servicing intervals. if u do not regularly frequent their workshops for servicing it could mean that u r either not servicing the car entirely, or going to some other workshop. in that case there is no cause for them to honour their warranty to u as u r deemed negligent with ur car, or have allowed some1 else other than their "trusted" mechanics to service it.

u have to use their workshops for servicing. but shld u wanna do additional oil change, am sure u can do it anywhere. even in ur own backyard. just make sure they dun know bout it.

its all about whether or not they detect any foul play on your ride

Re: Vincar policy about servicing

from personal experience, pi have a different service schedule to pml including more frequent fluid changes etc.

if you dont follow they wont honour their warranty. (but even if you do follow the schedule, not sure if they will honour their warranty anyway...)

Re: Vincar policy about servicing

Alexxx,

I bought my car from Vincar, and I followed their service schedule throughout the warranty period.

Note that I modded my car vehemently during this period, and I made it known to MBM, via my mod diary in this forum. We know that staffs from KBS like Chloe and Patrick are surfing this forum. What I did was made clear to them my part of liabilities - of course, I am not gonna change the turbos or do something radically unsound to the N54 block.

I had two claims with MBM, both on the sunroof's motor, during this period. They honoured their sides of the agreement.

Recently, another forumer had some issues on his N54 engine, and I understand that MBM voided his warranty claim on the grounds that he did not follow the service schedule. I had a talk with both Vincar and MBM, and it appeared that they justified themselves on the difficulty to account for a claim on a car not serviced under their records. Whether this is fair or justifiable is a separate topic altogether.

I think it is about communicating with MBM's management. Talk to Kelvin Lim - he is a fair and reasonable person.

on a side note...today i saw on my logcard that the OMV is 34+k....i clearly remembered that the SA said my OMV would be between 39-41k and written on paper on the day i sign and bought the card was 41k....anyway i can ermm i dunno...get back the OMV? what should i ask for? and what kinda answers can i expect and the replies i should give?

no one can really gurantee what the OMV will be. it is only an estimate. I have seen bimmers from PML of the same model and spec, but one was 6 months newer than the other and had a OMV 8k higher.

so long as u dun intend to keep car past 5 yrs, it shld be fine

You should demand an adjustment of the selling price downwards, proportionately to the OMV adjustments.

I think Alexxx's case is not about the absolute level of OMV per se, but the selling price/OMV ratio.

If I was told that my car's OMV is $X, and my price is $(X times Y)%, when my car arrived and the OMV becomes a different number, I will demand that the price is adjusted accordingly.

Re: Vincar policy about servicing

even for pml ... when i place my order the car is already in the warehouse and yet SE still refuse to reveal the OMV ... telling me OMV can only be finalised when the car is registered ... u nia boh ?

as usual, she give me an estimate and obviously the estimate is higher than the actual OMV

1. if OMV is below my expectation, i could have tried to nego for another $1K/2K for my mods fund .... *sigh*
2. false hope and dissappointed

but what are the chances of realistically demanding price be adjs for ppl like Alexxx and wt_know? Paper has already been signed. kinda hard to go back and say i wan a refund

the estimate i got from PML SE was $2.5k more than actual....the sales agreement does not indicate OMV.

if Alexxx's sales agreement has OMV clearly written, I will agree with Kenn that there is a case to ask for something.

not sure on the day of collection did alexxx sign a letter saying everything is in order and he is collecting car and happy with everything. dealer can turn this on him

In reality, difficulty of execution does not make it acceptable or right in principle.

If the projected OMV is quoted within range, I would find it more acceptable.

If the projected OMV is way off, why is my purchase price fixed? Element of misrepresentation there.

Might as well tell me my OMV is $100K.

Re: Vincar policy about servicing

if what alexxx said is true that $41K was written on the paper when he placed order. now actual omv is $34K, variation is a whopping 17% !

is this acceptable ? sign on dotted line does not mean customer is a sitting duck right ? can go to reason with dealer or go to tribunal claim ?

side track abit: 135i (1-series performance coupe) OMV is only $34K ? that's lower than a E90 320 LCI.
