Apparently the drag race was done to raise funds for some charity to benefit sick children. In any case, don't feel too bad, the Veyron would practically destroy any other stock standard car, as it should. I'm sure the M3 had fun, considering the burnouts he was doing

3.6 secs vs 2.8 secs (some say 2.4-2.5secs)
0-100mph times
9.5 secs vs 5.5 secs
Quarter Mile

Don't forget, the DSG in the Veyron probably gives a lot more consistent timings.

The Veyron did the Autocar 0-100-0 tests faster than an Ariel Atom (in a test that traditionally favored lighter cars). Atom placed second.

Nice work hunting down the stats!
Now, using the LRT formula where HP = (trap speed in mph/213.83)^3.3003 * weight in lbs, calculated HP is 1077.
Ariel Atom doesn't seem impressive, but then again it was never meant to be a quick or fast drag car.

Acc to Wiki, the rated horsepower is abt 1020-1040. Also depends on which horsepower definition u used.
So they left it at 1001 for marketing purposes. making it highest hp production car.
