Man,

That is absolutely very very clean work.

Yep..interested to know the spec output of that race M5 engine.

Any specs of the engines and components to share?

Eric and Ryan bros, .

Lightly modified S14 at 2.3L makes ~250hp (specific output of 110hp/litre) at around 7500 RPM.

Pure race S14 I4 at 2.3L makes ~320hp (specific output of 140hp/litre) at around 9000 RPM.

Pure race S14 I4 2.0L variant makes ~300hp (specific output of 150hp/litre) at around 10500 RPM.

Pure race M62 V8 at 4.4L makes ~620hp (specific output of 140hp/litre) at around 9500 RPM.

Pure race S54 I6 at 3.2L makes ~380hp (specific output of 120hp/litre) at around 8500 RPM. Undersquare (stroke > bore) engine makes it tough to rev and flow.

The rods you see are all by Arrow Precision.. the equivalent of (and some say slightly better) than Carrillo. Specs freely available. The valves are bespoke units, and Dave wouldn't tell me which company makes them. Crankshafts by Doug Kiddie Engineering - low volume, extremely high quality. All these components used in the highest echelons of racing, just short of F1. Sorry Eric, don't really know what you want to know. If you want further specifics, state which area exactly and I'll gladly get into it.

This is just awesome! Think the S14 I4 at 2.3L (specific output of 140hp/litre) is equivalent to my current EVO setup.

Well, I am keen to know the key components tat contribute to those power and the differences (dimensions, materials, etc) like in a comparison table would be useful.
If its too much of your time, please dun do it. Your studies more important!

Thanks bro!

No problem man. I am on holiday now... why do you think I'm posting this much these days :)

Ok, sometime soon I will write about the determinants of power, limitations and balances, in both naturally aspirated and force induced engines. I would put it into table format like you suggested, except that the explanations will not fit into tables and if summarized to that level, leaves too much open to interpretation, most of which will be wrong. I will try to be concise though.

Cheers!
