After much deliberation and some amount of research, I finally decided to plonk my money into one of these... Also given the fact that my clutch was slipping to no end made my decision somewhat easier. Should be going in next week, will keep you guys updated.

SMG. this will work with the SMG system as well. A few people have already used it in the US M3 forums.

That's not what I meant. It definitely works for both , that I know. Only thing is that it's better if you have the SMG that will accurately auto-blip your throttle when you down-shift as I realise from personal experience that this thing is actually quite dangerous on a manual. Because it's much lighter than your normal flywheel, when you downshift, the rev just plunges quickly and if you dont blip accurately in time, and you engage clutch again, your car will lose traction quickly...... damn dangerous around corners. Definitely not a mod for the average driver driving a manual. Sheesh......

Re: UUC flywheel and clutch

Des,

U may want to know that SMG and Manual Clutch is different.

For SMG, there is a catch that hold back the spring from retracting fully wheras the manual do not have...

I found out when i change my clutch...

Cheers

Thanks Alan. I was very clear when I ordered the clutch to mention that it was an SMG.

Re: UUC flywheel and clutch

Dun worri Des....

From UUC....

1) We've put literally hundreds of our flywheel/clutch setups in E46 M3s, and a large quantity in SMG-equipped cars with zero problems.
It is 100% compatible with SMG, and in fact is used in some heavily customized SMG M3s with forced induction and we now private-label our current setup for some European tuners.

2) For those with our original flywheel that used a "locked" self-adjusting clutch (SAC) pressure plate from SPEC, we now offer a proprietary-design direct-fit replacements that feature an all-new non-SAC pressure plate available in any surface facing you need.
This direct-fit non-SAC also fits the OE M3 flywheel, or any aftermarket unit using a standard M3 clutch setup.
We fit a sprung-hub center to this, so you can convert whatever "other brand" flywheel you have to a reduced-rattle sprung-hub fitment with greatly enhanced power capability and reliability.
