UUC Evo3 Short Shift Kits

Has anyone installed one of these on their manny tranny? Which of the favored workshops do the most work on manual tranny BMW's in Singapore (I know there aren't that many to begin with - mt BMW's that is).

Re: UUC Evo3 Short Shift Kits

I think BVO would have the expertise on this. I've seen them work on several manual cars before.

Cheers

It's the best thing that could be modded for a manual!!

Both BVO & J4C have installed at least 3 sets of them with the DSSR!

Cos I sold 6 sets to them so far.....hehe

All came back with more than positive feedbacks!!

Somebody here just converted must speak up now!!!

BLACKSTEALTH, wer are U???

UUC Evo3 SSK for E60

I ended up paying SG$590 all in for the UUC Evo3 part number USSE63 because I found a website www.understeer.com that includes free shipping with their UUC SSK's.

Unfortunately, Rob Levinson at UUC still hasn't gotten around to fabricating a DSSR fitment for the E60. I'll have to make do with the simple no frills Evo3 for the time being. Hopefully, by Mar, 06 , UUC will have released a DSSR for the E60, since I'll be in the US again for a couple of weeks.

The machined stainless steel bits lof the Evo3 ook really gorgeous. It's a shame they have to disappear under the leather gaiter. At least it will be topped off by a nice ///M leather short shift knob.

UUC Evo3 Short Shift Kit for my E60 installed

Amos at J4C has fitted the Evo3 Short Shift Kit, together with the modded CDV, and Synchromax tranny fluid and the transformation is nothing short of amazing. My garage queen feels like a real sports car now, not some luxo barge pretending to be an UDM.

///M Sport Steering Wheel, ///M Sport Leather Short Shift Knob, Axxis Deluxe+ frt pads, StopTech SS brake hoses front and rear, Motul RBF600 brake fluid, Radenergie Dry CF M54 Engine cover, & a H&R Coilover Suspension Set all went in at the same time, and further enhance the feeling of being a serious sports machine.

Hi Andy,
As usual, I'll be out of town at the end of the month, and my garage queen doesn't like going to social occasions without me - she's loyal that way. And she is also a bit shy, and not used to the attention.

Must let you have a look at the finished package once she is completely transformed, enhanced, and dialed in. She still 8 or 9 bits of cosmetic enhancements to undergo at Dr Mike's, and 1 or 2 more performance enhancements to back up all the showy bits.

Imagine Hilary Swank before and after in Million Dollar Baby (not in the vegetative state mind you), taking out all comers in the first round.

Cheers,

6spdMan,

Sorry but only saw this thread just now. I had the UUC combo fitted to my E39. Job was done by Amos and made a whole lot of difference. Shift feel is pretty notchy but accurate and without any slack. Guess you like your UUC shifter as well :)

I got Amos to change the "lifetime sealed" transmission fluid to Synchromax and change to a modified CDV while the car was up on the hoist. The new tranny fluid really makes the shifts much smoother, and the modified cdv allows me to clutch and declutch so much more smoothly.

My garage queen is now a pleasure to shift and clutch, much like my '90 911C4 which had a manual tranny.

I hope that UUC releases a DSSR for the E60 by next Feb, as I be in the US then, and can pick it up cheap.

Garage queen : Why dont you get a chance to drive your E60? Shame to just let it sit there.

90 964C4: Had? Which one? Is it still on our roads?

The SSK makes such a difference!

I travel a lot, and when I'm in town, I have no place I need to go to. So the GQ just sits there, pretty in Gray. Today, she got new shoes, so she's gonna happy for a while.

Was there more than one '90 911C4 model in the Porsche range? I may have gotten my codes confused - it was the first 4 wheel drive 911. I bought it through Stuttgart Auto, took delivery in Zuffenhausn, used it in Paris (where I lived from '87 to '92) on UK export plates for 2 years, then shipped it to Hong Kong, where it is still lovingly run by a good friend of mine. I sold it in '94 when I took delivery of my PI'ed E36 M3, the original with 286bhp from 3.0l.

Even though I used Stuttgart's allocation of 911C4's meant for Singapore, the car never ever made it here because I did not move to Singapore till '99.

BTW, I'm not a Singaporean.

Re: The SSK makes such a difference!

New Shoes? What did you get? I am running on PS2 and am seriously impressed with the tyre (15k km so far)

Yes, the 90 911C4 is codenamed the 964 version of the 911. And we have something in common. I used to have a 94 E36m3. One of my all time fav cars. Mine was an Avus blue coupe. I still think it makes (aside from Ferraris) nearly the best sound for a road car. Not too loud but man! what a lovely noise.

What else would you put on a GQ but PS2's on 166M wheels (200km so far, and no dust on the fronts)?

I was blown away when I test drove the E36 M3 in London in early '94. I hit 100 mph in town on a Saturday morning without breaking a sweat, so I knew I had to sell the 964 which seemed slow by comparison. After all, it only had 260bhp(after I chipped it), while the M3 had 286bmwhp, (which are bigger than normal bhp) and much more even delivery of torque.

In fact, this factory ordered, Lachs Silver M3 with full options including full leather, was a contributory factor to my wife becoming my wife. But that's a whole other story I won't get into here, other than to say that both of us drive manual tranny BMW's. The main difference is that she drives her e46 325Ci cab 5 spd to work every day, while my GQ sits at home doing nothing, like me.

See how much difference the right choice of car can make on your life?

I wonder if I can get a refund for my crappy UUC SSK?

For those who think UUC SSK is great, you might want to try Autosolutions short shifter. Its built for the M3 just the way it should be engineered. Check out the site:

The "Mad Russian" who is pretty anal about the "perfect" shifter.
I think this shifter is the *Best* yet!. Trying to get one....

It's too bad that Rasputin doesn't offer an E60 fitment. I'll just have to struggle along with my less than perfect Evo3, regretting every time I make a less than perfect double de-clutched downshift, all the while cursing Rob Levinson for selling crap products to an unsuspecting market. Maybe I'll compound my sorrows by getting the DSSR when Rob sees fit to release yet another crap product for long suffering but less than discerning Bimmerphiles. Not!

I'm sure AS's products are right up there with the best of breed, but unless one has the necessary skills, platform, and environment to use the tool properly, the quest for perfection is pretty academic and pointless. As far as I am concerned, the UUC Evo3 is a good product at a reasonable price for boh chap plodders without an F1 license.

Besides, if one is after perfection, which to me means fastest possible shift times without any missed shifts, one is obliged to transplant the 7 speed SMGIII from the E60 M5, and make sure launch control is the default setting. I don't think even BVO can pull that one off. So we are kind of stuffed, aren't we?

Have you actually tried an Evo3, or are you relying solely on internet reviews? If the latter, then I think you should withhold judgement until you have had a chance to do the former.

Have to go make some sloppy shifts now, so end of rant.

In the words of Ian Wright of Lonely Planet fame, " You are a funny, funny man!"

Yes, agree that choice of car has much to do with soul mate you spend rest of life with. After I met mine, there was a near instant switch (Like yours, another story altogether) to a 2 door E30 manual coupe. She still has a picture somewhere of the car which was 'her's, all her's' when I went away to the UK to study. Just realised, another thing in common, both wifey and I have manual cars as well. I would guess that we are in something like 1% of the local population where both husband and wife drive stick shifters.

On the issue of you staying at home and doing nothin' with the GQ, you are 1 up on me buddy....
