URGENT - lookin to rent

Re: URGENT - lookin to rent

Greetings Nutty professor,

thanks for the reply but no thanks for your sarcasm. i m not quite sure on the market rates for PRIVATE OWNER'S car rental rates. I do roughly know the rates from a car rental company though. they are ard $150 - $200. Im negotiable on the rates though.

However, i thought bmw.sg forummers are the affluent & tactful sort of respectful drivers, men with discerning taste & language.

but it seems that i may be wrong???? maybe some of the more tactful & intellectual forummers in here may reply politely & professionally ..............

Pardon me if i offended u in any way Nutty Professor :)

Sorry tatler.. NP is not very good with PR. He has been warned a few times in the forum for his inherent and incorrigible replies. Nevertheless he is a nice guy. I would think that you can probably look into this space at a later time, maybe at night where you will get most replies. Since you are agreeable on the rates, it might be useful. However, please give more insight into what/where/purpose of your usage. As much as i know private owners are not allowed to rent the cars, there might be a possibility someone might help you out while being present at the venue with a token sum. I think that is of a more workable solution yes?

Cheers.

elmariachi,

thanks for the insight. no worries, NP im cool. actually it's meant to be used as part of filming scenes for one of the lead roles in a 20 episodic drama for TV12 Suriachannel. I wanted to highlight this if there was any keen respondent to my posting, via private teleconversation.

details as to where the scenes / location & timing, ( not forgetting the owner wanting to be present wont be an issue at all ) can be released to any bro here who is willing to spare their ride.
credit roll & mention will be given to the owner at the end of each episode telecast as well.

for more details im open to discuss with any mates here whose keen. :)

Hi,
I think first of all it will be good that you state your purpose for renting the car CLEARLY here, you are asking for a favor and it would help you if you are honest to the people who you seek help from esp when they don't know you. Plus, nobody is willing to lend you their "precious" just based on your words. You need black and white, agreements, contracts etc etc
2nd, as you mentioned in this forum, people are affluent and comes from respectable backgrounds, what is $120/day to them anyway? I think you should look for car rental companies to solve your woes, else seek friends, not enemy.
:singsing:
No offence.

hi Tatler,

one bad rotten apple doesnt render the whole basket is rotten. Plus this Nut doesnt speak for all nor does he represent/reflect the social morality or the etiquette of the forummers here.
enough said of him...

as for ur request... pls do understand the fact that u are approaching this forum from a 'outsider' prospective... hence the very semi cold response.... as many of us are not familiar with u nor with ur intention...

n do understand that many are not willing to just hand over their precious car to a stranger for a minute not to mention a day... even if the price is good. there are TOO many legal aspects involved in this 'lending/renting' car issue that IS NOT funny if things DO go wrong... even if u can guarantee verbally on ur safety history records... there are simply MANy things we cannot control or even predict... its simply beyond one's control actually.

i would personally suggest u find ur own friends/relatives that might drive the car u desire n ask permission for its 'rental'.... even car rental companies have at least 2-3 forms OR MORE for u to sign before lending/renting their cars to u

pls be understanding....

good luck on ur search

:)

Re: URGENT - lookin to rent

if you are indeed a media executive looking for a car to use for filming, you should approach PML.

i know they do rentals for weddings and such and i'm sure they'll be more than happy to have free media exposure for their cars. and since you've owned a few BMWs in the past, it'll be easier to negotiate wouldn't it?

also, i'm curious as to why you had to stress your own safe driving record when the car will be used for filming. do media executives act in their own productions these days? not trying to discredit you, just clarifying a few irregularities.

Re: URGENT - lookin to rent

if this renting is for mediacorp filming, black and white should be from mediacorp and not deal person to person. It is simply too risky.

I rem a story of a man going for test drive. while the owner get down the car to switch seat with the "buyer", he drove off with the car. The car was never seen again.

I believe insurance dun compensate for such case. That smeans you still have to pay for a car you do not have!! Just be careful.

hi everyone,,,

first & foremost i would like to extend my sincere apologies if i had mislead anyone in any ways. secondly, to SHAAZ, NP, sorry mates if in some ways u guys were pissed with the posting....i do admit, the posting was pretty generic, however, this is the 1st step i believe anyone would take before moving on to further discussion on official agreement matters.

i clearly understand there will be a need to sign several black & white, documents, or a rental agreement for that matter. additionally, a copy of id & driver's licence will be produced as well. the owner is more than welcome to be at the venues or locations where the car is required.

i can understand owners in here may feel sentimental towards their ride, thats the reason y i am open for further discussion via PM. we can always talk on the fone further & meet up. all necessary details required by the owner can be furnished with no obligations.

besides, the car would be also the star of the show :)........

realistically, of course im not expecting any bros in here to lend me their ride. i wouldnt do it too if someone else approached me to borrow my ride without knowing the motive. however, i clearly stated that further details can be discussed in private & from there we could come to a mutual agreement not just verbally but formally in writing .

i was hoping to avoid typing too long a message just to look out for a prospective owner who may be keen to work together on our humble request. ( not a favor ).....unexpectedly, a stir of comments came in..........

all said , NP / SHAAZ / or even anyone who felt offended by my simple & humble posting, my deepest apologies to you guys. i had no intention of that sort......all i wanted was to find an owner who was willing to pm me & take on the next step in sorting out rates & agreements. that was all............

nevertheless, thanks for your constructive opinions & i hope no enemy was made in here.....cheers guys :)

Re: URGENT - lookin to rent

Actually, if it is really for Mediacorp production, and you state in ur posting earlier, i bet lot of bro will be willing to meet you in mediacorp for a further disccussion.

1. to show that it is indeed mediacorp production.
2. we get to rub shoulders with some of the stars? ha

louis,

i called PML today & was told they do not rent out on a daily basis. besides, the car is not needed for weddings.

yes i have owned beemers b4, i was a forum member of bmw.sg, & i am part of the cast. im not a producer from mediacorp. since i was a forum member b4, n they needed a bmw for the series, i thought i'd help them look for some1 here.

when the interested party surface, he/she will be paid direct by mediacorp & documents will come from media corp as well.

all these details was meant to be discussed via pm............

haizzzz........sorry it had to turn out this way....????

Re: URGENT - lookin to rent

may be you should just leave it to your props team to handle such issues. We are talking about a car here not "go-li".

cheers

Re: URGENT - lookin to rent

eh..........eh..............actually no offense lor... :)

but hor.. i really don' t get it... for filming purpose, i am very sure there's budget allocated to it, and I am sure, since it is for TV 12 Suria or watever channel, being from MediaCorp, shouldn't they be looking at a more legal channel of renting a car? Mind you, any scratches or dents or even major damage, just basing on your words, the dude that lents you his car, will not be able to claim his insurance for it. Am i right, all the bros here?? Correct me if I am wrong...
Singapore is one of the easiest place to rent a car, and there are plenty of rental companies around...offering good deals, why come into a forum to ask? Doesn't it seems doggy to all?

MEDIA CORP le.. not say some B grade station le... with a full legal team behind them, and over 20 yrs of filming serials, with cars in them... don't you think they virtually know what to do, when such needs arises?

Ryan.. sorry for the bad post.. but.. hor... this kind of ding dong hor.. deserves some lecturing la... Peace out!

Re: URGENT - lookin to rent

tatler,

my bad, i'm not from media, didn't know cast members referred to themselves as "executives from the media industry"

and didn't know you were a forum member before... you should get ryan to resend you your old password if you had forgotten it.

you'll probably have more credibility posting with that nick than "tatler" which was only registered today, 22 June 2006.

what was your old nick anyway? plenty of old forum members are still around i think, maybe you can get some of them to stand up and back up your claims? anyway, since you're a forum member, you shouldn't be shy la, come down for sunday's meet up and ask people face to face, you'll probably get better response.

lastly, although i may not have phrased it as strongly as the professor, i don't disagree with his assessment that $120 would probably only get you a vios with insurance coverage. i rented a hyundai accent 1.3L manual and and had to pay close to $80 a day.

Re: URGENT - lookin to rent

one more thing i am curious, why only want 320i and above? discriminate 318i?
