You know why they are called locknuts right? If someone else has the exact same key as yours, whats the chances? Like 50 billion to one?

Rightened the wheel nut too tight, thats a good thing, cause you really want those nuts to fly off when your driving. Maybe you never serviced the car before and the nuts have never been taken off, so are rusted on, nothing to do with being overtightened.

Your getting your undies in a twist over such a small matter. If it was my car, i wouldnt be posting on the forum crying, i would have been out smashing them off with a chisel and throwing them as far as i could.

hey, i just bought the car. all the other nuts on the car, not just the lock nuts were very difficult to remove. according to receipts from the previous owner, the tires were changed just a couple of months ago, so they cant be rusted on. definitely overtightened cos the other nuts that were removed were not in any rusted shape at all. even the BMW service mobile guy who came couldnt help me. you say about smashing them off as if its very easy. tell me who can do it and guarantee me no damange to my rims or to my hubs for that matter?

hi, i'm friendly with Guni. so that was just an expression *tongue in cheek*. Guni knows i didnt mean it. already bought angel eyes from him the first day i collected the car, which was 3 days ago. i guess i can be considered a lurker but i'm new here and i thought this was the best place to get help. if i could help others i definitely would too.

i chiseled them off my wifes car once with zero damage, it depends on the person doing it. But a guarentee on no damage? hahaha, dreaming

Now you gotta ask yourself. chisel them off, or pray to get a key to remove them and not break that key as well. Locknuts suck, throw them away when and if you get them off.

If it's that adaptor nut that is being kept in the usual tool kit.... I bought one from PML two years ago at $10.

Now you gotta ask yourself. chisel them off, or pray to get a key to remove them and not break that key as well. Locknuts suck, throw them away when and if you get them off.

i cant afford to damage my rims so i didnt choose that option. finding the key is the safest method so that's what i'm sticking to for now. and if i do get them out, i already have 4 regular lugs waiting to be put in their place

some workshops say they can weld something to the bolt to turn it out. but the welding will damage the rim as well due to the sparks that fly.

Bro, dun think the bolt can be welded back.... the best and simplest way.... 70% safe.
** This was done by my colleagues when the car which came in for scrapped and no lug nut opener.
1) Get a openning nut which is slightly bigger...
2) Use a hammer to bang it into your lug nut.....
3) U'll find it easy to unscrew it w/o much effort........
