Unichip on e46 320IA

Hi,

I am very interested to know if anyone has installed and tuned their e46 320 (or similar 6 potters) with a unichip.

I really do believe that if tuned properly it should get a good gain in torque / hp. Just want to know if the shifting would be compromised as I heard that if you advance the ignition, there are functions like on emanage ultimate which does not advance the ignition during shifts to prevent a jerky feeling. 6 cylinders, 2.2L, DOHC....I think it should produce more than the base 170hp if tuned correctly.

Anyone with any info, please let me know. If I embark on this journey, I would be willing to share all I know. I tuned my previous car with unichip and gained 18hp peak with decent amount of torque. Just simple leaning out of fuel avg 5% and advancing by avg 5 degree ignition timing. Tried the same with AFC neo and got 10hp. This was on a Euro R. With a 2006 civic 2.0, before the 2007 Euro R, base was 155hp (FD2Auto) and i got 5hp from a basic AFC neo just by leaning out avg 5% fuel. All dynoed. I just got my car and don't believe that there is nothing we can do to unleash 10hp-20hp with simple bolt ons like intake and exhaust (muffler alone). :( I am not going to do any major mods, at least want to try to get something with basics first. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I hope to be able to contribute my fair share but before I do anything, I want to check if anyone has already gone thru that route.

I am interested in the mod as well, but i need to know more details and suggestions first. So yapster, where are you going to tune your car this thursday. mind i drop by to take a look?

Hi Bro Yapster,

Yes of cos I remember you. :)

I decided to go for BVO's reflash as there are other parameters like valve timing (cam timing) which can be adjusted. Also, overall, it should be a lot more stable since a reflash will not require the piggy back to trick the signal from either the crank sensor or air flow sensor. I have no regrets going for the reflash as FC has improved with much better driveability with better power throughout the rpm range. If you can sell, the unichip, suggest you can save the cost on the installation and tuning and go straight with the reflash instead. But if you do end up with the unichip, do post your results! Oh by the way also the reflash can alter the close loop portion while unichip cannot really tune the close loop portion as it will keep overwriting the settings but that's only on part throttle and low rpms. Think most cars run open loop when >50% throttle and >3k rpm anyway....

Good to see you around.....:)
